Room to Read’s Learning Library Kits have reached several holding centers in Nuwakot, supporting children affected and displaced by the recent disaster. As communities recover, we remain committed to ensuring that children find space space.

Pujana is the host of Sakaratmak Sandesh on Radio Chimteshwor.

When we first met her in Grade 6 through Room to Read’s Girls’ Education and Gender Equality portfolio, she was naturally shy and reserved. Today, she is a confident voice sharing life skills tips with young people across Nuwakot through her radio program.

We have seen Pujana grow and her journey reminds us that when young people are equipped with life skills and given opportunities to learn, build confidence, and find their voice, they become not just leaders of tomorrow, but changemakers today.

Reading Festival is a two-day celebration of books and the joy of reading conducted by Sharada Municipality in Salyan District every year. For the last four years Room to Read and our implementing partner Dalit Development Society (DDS) has been technically supporting the landmark festival that brings together students, educators, parents, government stakeholders and the whole community attracting over 4,000 participants each year. The Festival features a wide range of interactive and educational activities including storybook reading session, model library exhibit, Drop Everything and Read (DEAR) campaign, and research-based presentation stalls showcasing compelling results.

The program was inaugurated in the presence of the Chief Guest, Mr. Yagya Raj Joshi, Head of Karnali Province, and Mr. Ghanshyam Bhandari, Minister of Social Development, Karnali Province. The event was chaired by Mr. Prakash Bhandari, Mayor of Sharada Municipality.

सल्यान जिल्लाका १० मध्ये ७ स्थानीय तहमा प्रारम्भिक कक्षाका शिक्षकहरूका लागि पाँच दिने एकीकृत पाठ्यक्रम तालिम सम्पन्न गरिएको छ। शारदा नगरपालिका, बागचौर नगरपालिका, छत्रेश्वरी गाउँपालिका, त्रिवेणी गाउँपालिका, सिद्धकुमाख गाउँपालिका, दार्मा गाउँपालिका तथा बन्गाड कुपिण्डे नगरपालिकाका गरी जम्मा २४२ जना शिक्षकहरूले तालिममा सहभागिता जनाएका छन्। Dalit Bikas Samaj

कार्यक्रमले विद्यार्थीहरूको सिकाइ उपलब्धि सुधार गर्न शिक्षकहरूको शिक्षण सीप तथा कक्षाकोठा अभ्यासलाई सुदृढ बनाउने कुरामा केन्द्रित थियो।

In Salyan District, we have completed a five-day Integrated Curriculum Training for early grade teachers in 7 out of 10 local governments. A total of 242 teachers participated in the training from Sharada Municipality, Bagchaur Municipality, Chhatreshwari Rural Municipality, Tribeni Rural Municipality, Siddha Kumakh Rural Municipality, Darma Rural Municipality, and Bangad Kupinde Municipality in partnership with Dalit Development Society.

The program focused on strengthening teachers’ instructional skills and classroom practices to improve student learning outcomes.
