FIAN Nepal is a member-based human rights organization dedicated to promoting and advocating for the realization of the right to adequate food in Nepal. It is the officially recognized National Section of FIAN International and part of a global movement advancing the right to food, coordinated by the International Secretariat in Heidelberg, Germany. FIAN Nepal works to address systemic barriers by

promoting equitable access to resources and strengthening the rights of smallholder farmers and marginalized communities to produce or access safe, sufficient, nutritious, and culturally appropriate food for a dignified and healthy life. FIAN envisions a world free from hunger, where all people can fully enjoy their human rights with dignity, particularly the right to adequate food as recognized in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (1966), along with other international frameworks.

With the collaboration of Local government FIAN Nepal has successfully completed the formation of ๐–๐š๐ซ๐- ๐š๐ง๐ ๐๐š๐ฅ๐ข๐ค๐š-๐‹๐ž๐ฏ๐ž๐ฅ ๐‘๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ ๐ญ๐จ ๐…๐จ๐จ๐ (๐‘๐ญ๐…) ๐๐ž๐ญ๐ฐ๐จ๐ซ๐ค๐ฌ ๐š๐œ๐ซ๐จ๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ• ๐ฐ๐š๐ซ๐๐ฌ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐Ÿ“ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐จ๐ฃ๐ž๐œ๐ญ ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐œ๐ข๐ฉ๐š๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐ž๐ฌ: Shivalaya (Jajarkot), Chingad, Bheriganga and Simta (Surkhet), and Belauri (Kanchanpur).

The process began with the formation of Ward-Level RtF Networks, bringing together Community Groups (CGs), Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), farmers, and other community members. Representatives from these ward-level networks were then brought together to form the Palika-Level RtF Networks, ensuring strong community representation and coordination.

Together, we are strengthening local systems for food security, food sovereignty, and accountable governance, ensuring the Right to Food for all.

The day marks the beginning of the main rice planting season during the monsoon and recognizes the invaluable contribution of farmers and agriculture to the nation. The Government of Nepal has officially observed National Paddy Day since 2004.

On the occasion of Asar 15 (National Paddy Day), in coordination with Belauri Municipality, the day was celebrated together with members of the Right to Food (RtF) Groups.
