It is a non-profit, non-governmental organization based in Nepal. It was established in 2013, with the aim of offering opportunities of personal and social development for children, youth and adults, in the areas of emotional skills (e.g. self-awareness, self-control, self-esteem), interpersonal relationships (e.g. communication skills, respect for diversity, empathy, acceptance, collaboration) an
d learning skills (e.g. learning to learn, reasoning, brain functioning) in order to facilitate a better quality of life for all. It is led by a Central Committee that is elected by the General Assembly every 2 years. There is no permanent, paid staff. The management and administrative tasks are performed by the Board members on a voluntary basis or on a paid basis depending on the implemented projects. The major source of funding are the yearly membership fees (300Rs. /year) and the participation fees charged for some of our local/National activities. Since 2013 the number of members is constantly increasing and includes persons that work in a variety of fields (education, psychology, economics, sociology, etc)
Goals and objectives:
a) To enforce Government for the effective implementation of national youth policy 2066 and do advocacy for the allocation of sufficient budget and extension of programs. b) To develop creativity, positive thinking and entrepreneurial skills among youth and unite among youth and work together with the youth organizations, individual for human rights, good governance, peace process and poverty elimination process. c) To run economic, cultural and social campaigns for the youth access on policy and decision making levels/process. d) To run awareness campaigns on violence, abuse against adolescent. e) To provide development and right based trainings and information, psychosocial counseling, life skills for the youth empowerment. Main Projects / Activities:
Our activities include:
a) seminars, lectures and experiential workshops to youth and adults for the development of the aforementioned Life Skills,
b) training of local and National educators, teachers and trainers who are interested in using active learning methods of developing Life Skills,
c) cooperation with schools, local and regional organizations, groups and associations in Nepal,
d) cooperation with inter/national educational groups and institutes,
e) participation in national & international conferences and seminars. Our activities are directly related to education, development of social, emotional and civic competences, intercultural learning, inclusion, dialogue and peace education. Since 2013, we have organized a significant number of local experiential workshops on the topics of goal setting, interpersonal communication, cooperation and trust, tolerance, understanding self and others and conflict resolution. Youth counseling centre:
It is the one of our important part of YRDC. It provides psychosocial counseling free for the disadvantaged, deprived people & youth at risk.
