On July 23, 2026, WoNEE celebrated its 8th Annual Day by bringing together young women engineering students to share their ideas and visions for an Inclusive Energy Future in Nepal.
The idea for this event emerged from a brainstorming session held as part of our ongoing initiative, Creating an Inclusive Energy Future in Nepal. Earlier this year, we engaged school students through STEM awareness programs, highlighting the opportunities available in science, technology, and engineering, and emphasizing that these fields are for everyone, regardless of gender.
Building on that foundation, we organized a presentation competition aimed at connecting female engineering students who are passionate about energy and gender inclusion. The competition attracted 15 abstract submissions from 32 students representing 6 engineering colleges across Nepal. After a competitive selection process, 7 teams were shortlisted to present their ideas in the final round.
The enthusiasm, innovation, and commitment demonstrated by the participants reinforced the importance of creating spaces where young women can contribute to shaping Nepal’s energy future. Their presentations showcased not only technical knowledge but also a strong understanding of the need for inclusive and sustainable energy solutions.
A heartfelt thank you to all participants, mentors, judges, and supporters who made this event a success. Together, we continue to work towards a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive energy sector in Nepal.
