Local voices for Lasting peace!

Non-violence communication and mediation are essential tools for members of the Tole Development Organization(TDO). As TDOs play an increasingly active role in community development and contribute to creating inclusive local governance, the ability to communicate with empathy, listen mindfully, and mediate with care becomes essential, especially when working alongside the most marginalized and vulnerable communities. Support Nepal, in collaboration with Kurve Wustrow organized a training on "Non-violence communication and mediation" to create a space for learning and sharing amongst the TDOs, representative of Citizen Help Desk and Women, children, and senior citizens of Matihani Municipality-Mahottari and Dhanauji Rural Municipality-Dhanusha.
The participants of this training reflected on how mindful listening, self-care, and understanding each other with empathy were powerful tools for building inclusive, participatory, and transparent decision-making in their communities.
The training created a meaningful space for learning and exchange amongst the participants, and at the end, walking away with a deeper understanding of how non-violent communication can be a pathway to greater peace and sustainable community development.

Shaping Nepal’s Development- Together, Beyond Graduation!

As Nepal prepares to graduate from Least Developed Country (LDC) to Developing Country status in November 2025, the country stands at a critical turning point in its journey towards the Sustainable Development Goals. This shift will bring new opportunities- but also tough challenges- for inclusive and sustainable development.
To move beyond symbolic “graduation” and address real issues on the ground, federal, provincial and local governments must work together with communities that are often left unheard. With this aim, Support Nepal, in collaboration with Kurve Wustrow, convened representatives from the National Assembly’s committees, the Madhesi Commission, the Muslim Commission, Provincial Assembly members, local representatives from Matihani Municipality and Dhanauji Rural Municipality, and civil society organizations.
Together, they reflected on what has been achieved so far and discussed practical, collective actions for the coming years. The event served as a starting point for more coordinated policy and program efforts- during and beyond the LDC graduation period- to ensure that Nepal’s development is truly inclusive and sustainable.
