IIDS GYAN Teaching Fellowship 15 Fellows | 5 schools | Grade 6-10 | Science, English, and Mathematics.

The GYAN Teaching Fellowship is an IIDS-led flagship initiative under the GYAN Innovation Hub, aimed at strengthening the STEM pipeline in Nepal’s government schools.

As part of our Summer Intern GYAN Learning Sessions, Jeffery Ren and Bayne Nobili engaged with our students from grades 6 to 10 through weekly conversations, discussions, and debates.

The sessions became a meaningful cultural exchange, giving our students an opportunity to learn about life, education, and experiences in the United States from an international perspective. At the same time, Jeffery and Bayne had the chance to experience Nepal through the perspectives, questions, and ideas of the next generation.

Our students thoroughly enjoyed the sessions and especially loved getting to know and interact with our interns. It was a wonderful opportunity for learning, connection, and sharing across cultures.

Nepal's government schools are losing students from the STEM pipeline long before they ever reach SEE. Grades 6–10 is the last reversible window. That's where GYAN steps in.

Through the GYAN Innovation Hub, IIDS embeds trained fellows directly inside government schools, working alongside teachers, not replacing them.

No new infrastructure. Just consistent, human support where it's needed most.

The GYAN Fellowship Team recently visited five government schools as part of groundwork for our Strengthening STEM Pipeline initiative. These visits gave the team a chance to connect with school leadership, teachers, and students, and to better understand the day-to-day realities of each school community.

We're grateful to the schools for welcoming us and look forward to building on these early conversations in the months ahead.
