Rescue of Three Adult Spectacled Cobras from Illegal Snake Handling Activity
Three adult Spectacled Cobras were successfully rescued from a snake charmer who had been publicly displaying and handling the snakes at Kishanpur Village, Ward No. 7 of Dhanushadham Municipality.
The incident came to our attention through local villagers, who informed us about the presence of the snake charmer and the snakes. Upon receiving the information, our team immediately coordinated with the Divisional Forest Office. We informed Mr. Shankar Narayan Jha, Divisional Forest Officer at the Dhanushadham Sub-Divisional Forest Office, Dhanusha.
Following this, Mr. Akash Yadav, Forest Guard, arrived at the site, and a joint rescue operation was conducted by our team along with the forest officials. Through coordinated efforts, we successfully rescued all three cobras from the snake charmer.
After the rescue, proper handling procedures were followed, including health assessment, documentation, and necessary legal processes. Once all required checks were completed, the snakes were safely released into their natural habitat within the Dhanushadham Forest.
This operation highlights the importance of community awareness, prompt reporting, and collaboration between local conservation teams and forest authorities in protecting wildlife and preventing illegal exploitation.
