INTRODUCTION

Rural Women Service Center (RWSC) is a non-governmental and non-profitable membe It has been registered at DAO Makwanpur on 11 Aashadh, 2059. It is also affiliated with the Social Welfare Council and NGO Federation of Nepal.

RWSC is operating its activities in 37 VDCs out of 43 VDCs of Makwanpur district for the institutional development of 35 cooperatives and 1772 Women Groups. VISION

Create conscious, equitable and independent society through cooperative movement as well as right based approach. GOAL

To contribute on economic, social, political empowerment of women and deprived community groups. To encourage women's participation for social transformation. To capacitate women's and develop their leadership. OBJECTIVES

To ensure gender responsive policies and their implementation through women's participation in local and national peace process. To organize awareness raising program for capacity development of the deprived community groups. To develop linkages and work in alliance with like minded organizations. To enhance women's psychosocial wellbeing and influence over decisions affecting their lives at households and community level. To built the capacity of local organizations including women cooperatives. To develop entrepreneurship of the local people for self employment. To advocate on right of women, children and deprived groups of people. To improve economic condition of women through increased capacities and increased access to public resources and control over private resources and income. RWSC's Collaboration and Linkages:

It has established a working relationship with District level line agencies and community-based organization for project collaboration and sharing human expertise. Others are as follows: -

Major program activities

Activities for economic empowerment
• Formation and mobilization of groups and cooperatives in 36 VDCs of makawanpur district.
• Organization of training workshop, exposure visits for capacity and institutional development of cooperatives. Activities for Social empowerment
• Gender training for groups.
• Reproductive health awareness program.
• Mobilization of men campaigners for gender equality, role and responsibility of men and women in house and community to make gender friendly community.
• Beijing decelerations and CEDAW orientation program
• Orientation on United Nation Security council resolution (UNSCR) 1325 & 1820
• Campaign on Behavior change communication
• Psycho social counseling program
• Citizenship certificate acquisition support for poor and marginalized families.
• Reflection center (Women groups)
• Celebration of 16 days activism on violence against women. Activities for political empowerment
• Training for women political parties, police, Army force , DDC level advisory committees, press and other local stakeholder on UNSCR 1325 and 1820.
• Campaign on the participation of marginalized women in politics. Major achievement
• RWSC adopted UCPA analysis tools to find out deprived, marginalized community and implementing reflect classes to deliver awareness raising program to make them able to advocate their issues and rights.
• Women from deprived and marginalized community are now linked with VDC level to DDC and able to linked with National Forum for Women's
Concern (NFOWRC).
• Women groups are able to formed women cooperatives in 36 VDC. VDC level cooperatives are able to linked with district level saving and credit cooperative union and able to linked with national level saving and credit union (NEPSUN). Program achievement of cooperative movement in makawanpur district can be seen as follow

Organizational Management

The Executive Committee elected by the General Assembly, provides overall policy direction and guidance to the organization. The executive committee holds responsibility for implementing policy decisions of the organization while the program coordinator looks after the day-to-day management of the organization.
