Doctors announced that he cannot walk. But with 2 year regular neuropathy, now he can walk few steps. "Rebuilding Hope: Bibek's Journey to Recovery and Independence - A Call for Support"
Hello, my husband's name is Bibek Bhandari, and he is currently 33 years old. Upon returning home to Nepal from Dubai, where he was previously healthy and fit, he entered married life happily. However, he sudden
ly began experiencing a tingling sensation, tightness, and a scissor-like gait in his leg, accompanied by a chilling coldness. Despite seeking help from doctors throughout Nepal, a conclusive diagnosis was not found, and his symptoms rapidly progressed, leading to paralysis. Faced with this frightening situation, our family decided to seek treatment in India, where he was diagnosed with compressive progressive myeloneuropathy. Surgery on the dorsal spine showed no progress, and the doctor conveyed the heartbreaking news that he might not walk again. Following two years of rehabilitation in three different centers in India, he can now stand and take a few steps, but bearing weight on his leg for an extended period remains challenging. He deals with muscle imbalances, incoordination, weakness, and tightness in the abdomen, hip, knee, and ankle, as well as foot drop in his left leg, which makes him dependent on others to carry out his daily activities. Additionally, my husband's father is facing severe heart problems, with three valves close to 85%. Doctors have warned that he may experience a critical incident at any moment, and there is no one available to help. With no income source, the situation has become dire. Bibek, who was once there to assist everyone, is now in a low condition due to his spinal cord injury. Daily survival has become an immense challenge, encompassing essential needs such as food, shelter, medication, and rehabilitation expenses. We have already spent INR 35 lakhs in India for treatment and rehabilitation. Throughout the treatment, we couldn't maintain our jobs and only relied on savings and family support. Our financial condition gradually deteriorated due to ongoing rehabilitation and no stable income. Coming from a middle-class working family and consistently depending on our family, we made the decision to return from India. With funds running out, discontinuing his treatment became our only option. For the past three months in Nepal, we've been unable to continue his treatment, and my husband needs assistance with daily activities, preventing me from going to work. The doctor acknowledges the amazing progress in his recovery but emphasizes the need for continued advanced neuro rehab for a few more years to gain independence in daily activities and live a normal life. So, we require more financial support to continue his rehabilitation. His recovery journey is a testament to the power of relentless effort and a never give up attitude. Let his story be a motivation for all of us because when dreams meet determination, success becomes an inevitable destination. Please support us in creating a resilient ecosystem to overcome this neurological challenge together. This is where we humbly seek your support and blessings. Despite financial challenges, we have come this far, and we do not want to be discouraged. We hope to receive your support and blessings. Your warm blessings may help Bibek regain his normal life and live happily with his family and friends. He is a hardworking and generous individual who has borne all kinds of pain during this recovery process. Please support us in creating a resilient ecosystem to overcome this neurological challenge.
