The Association of Mechanical Engineering Students (AMES), Kathmandu University, wishes to express its concern over recent media and social media coverage involving Dr. Bivek Baral, who has served as an advisor to AMES.

Based on our direct experience working with Dr. Baral in his advisory capacity and teaching style, we students have found him to be committed to student mentorship, research, and academic integrity. On behalf of the students, we affirm that he has never compromised on his teaching profession, and has always been readily available to help and listen to our academic concerns. It is in this context that we view the recent allegations with concern.

We urge media outlets and the public to exercise responsibility and fairness when reporting on individuals, and to ensure that allegations are supported by verifiable facts and evidence before publication. Unsubstantiated claims can cause undue harm to an individual's reputation and to the institutions they are associated with.

AMES remains committed to academic integrity and fairness, and calls for due process and factual reporting in matters concerning members of the Kathmandu University community.
