Too often, farmers are not given the recognition they deserve and seen only as producers. Yet behind every successful farm is an entrepreneur managing risks, making investments, creating jobs, and driving local economic growth.
The Farm Enterprise Accelerator Initiative in Dhading was designed to change this narrative. By combining enterprise development, mentorship, market exposure, and business planning support, the program helps farmers unlock their potential as business leaders.
Today, we celebrated an important achievement as 10 promising agripreneurs shared the progress they have made over the past months. Their journeys reflected innovation, determination, and a strong commitment to building sustainable agricultural enterprises. From a competitive pool of more than 1,500 farmers, three outstanding farmer couples were recognized and awarded seed grants of NPR 50,000 to support the next stage of their business growth.
This initiative, implemented by Action Nepal with technical support from Heifer International Nepal and in collaboration with Nilkantha Municipality and Siddhalek Rural Municipality, demonstrates what is possible when farmers are provided not only with resources, but also with opportunities, networks, and encouragement.
The lessons are powerful: transformation in agriculture happens when farmers are empowered to think beyond production and embrace entrepreneurship. Recognition, confidence, access to markets, and strategic support can be just as important as technology and finance.
As we look ahead, there is immense potential to expand this approach and create pathways for thousands of rural entrepreneurs across Nepal. The future of agriculture lies in investing in people who are ready to innovate, lead, and grow.
