On Saturday morning, an 81-year-old hunter was accidentally shot by a colleague while attempting to cull a trapped bear in the mountains of Konabe, Nagano City. A group of four members from a local hunting association had entered the forest to safely dispatch the animal. When a 55-year-old member fired his shotgun at the approximately one-meter-long adult bear, the bullet inadvertently struck the elderly man in the left shoulder.

Authorities were alerted by Nagano City Hall at around 9:10 a.m., and the injured man was promptly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The exact severity of his injuries remains unknown, and local police are currently investigating the precise cause of the accidental shooting. Officials confirmed that the trapped bear was successfully culled despite the incident.
