Celebrating International Elephant Day 2026!

On the occasion of International Elephant Day, an opening ceremony for the installation of a Low-Cost Seasonal Electric Fence was conducted at Dhanaura Muktakamaiya Village, Madhuwan Municipality-3, Bardiya.
The initiative aims to contribute to Human-Elephant Conflict (HEC) mitigation by protecting local communities and their agricultural land while promoting peaceful human–elephant coexistence.
This community-based approach will help strengthen local efforts to reduce human–elephant conflict and create a safer environment for both people and elephants.

अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय हात्ती दिवस २०२६ को अवसरमा!

अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय हात्ती दिवसको अवसरमा मानव–हात्ती द्वन्द्व न्यूनीकरण तथा मानव–हात्ती सहअस्तित्वका लागि नयून लागतको मौसमी विद्युतीय तारबार जडानको उद्घाटन कार्यक्रम बर्दियाको मधुवन नगरपालिका–३, धनौरा मुक्तकमैया गाउँमा सम्पन्न भएको छ।
यस पहलले स्थानीय समुदाय तथा कृषि बालीलाई हात्तीबाट हुने क्षतिबाट जोगाउन, मानव–हात्ती द्वन्द्व न्यूनीकरण गर्न तथा मानव र हात्ती सहअस्तित्व कायम गर्न योगदान पुर्‍याउने अपेक्षा गरिएको छ।
समुदायमा आधारित यस्ता प्रयासहरूले मानव–हात्ती द्वन्द्व न्यूनीकरण तथा हात्ती संरक्षणमा स्थानीय सहभागिता र सहकार्यलाई थप मजबुत बनाउने विश्वास लिइएको छ।

We are pleased to share the successful completion of the training on the Installation, Repair, and Maintenance of Seasonal Electric Fence on 2nd June 2026 in Ward No. 10 of Rajapur Municipality, Bardiya. The training was conducted for participants from different villages located along the border areas adjoining the Indian forest, where communities frequently face challenges related to human-elephant conflict.With financial support from Shared Earth and USFWS,and technical support of Compass Films (CF) the training was organized by Ujyalo Nepal in coordination and support from Rajapur Municipality and Bardia National Park, the training aimed to strengthen local capacity in the effective use and maintenance of seasonal electric fences for elephant conservation, human–elephant conflict mitigation, and human–elephant coexistence. We extend our sincere gratitude to the Mayor of Rajapur Municipality and the Chairperson of Ward No. 10 for their valuable support and coordination, as well as to all dedicated community members, participants, facilitators, and everyone who contributed to the successful completion of this important initiative.

मिति २५ वैशाख २०८३ मा मधुवन नगरपालिका वडा नं. १, सूर्यपटुवास्थित श्री त्रिभुवन माध्यमिक विद्यालयमा वन्यजन्तु संरक्षण तथा मानव–वन्यजन्तु सहअस्तित्व सम्बन्धी विद्यालयस्तरीय वन्यजन्तु शिक्षा कार्यशाला सफलतापूर्वक सम्पन्न गरियो। कार्यशालामा हात्ती संरक्षण, मानव–हात्ती द्वन्द्व न्यूनीकरण, मानव–वन्यजन्तु सहअस्तित्व तथा बाघ, चितुवा लगायत अन्य वन्यजन्तुप्रति सुरक्षित व्यवहार र संरक्षण सम्बन्धी शैक्षिक कार्यक्रम सञ्चालन गरिएको थियो।

On 8th May 2026, a school-level wildlife education workshop on wildlife conservation and human-wildlife coexistence was successfully conducted at Shree Tribhuvan Secondary School, located in Suryapatuwa, Ward No. 1 of Madhuwan Municipality. The workshop included educational sessions on elephant conservation, mitigation of human-elephant conflict, human-wildlife coexistence, and safe behavior and conservation practices related to tigers, leopards, and other wildlife species.

विद्यार्थीहरूको ज्ञान, चेतना तथा क्षमता अभिवृद्धि गर्ने उद्देश्यले H.EL.P (Human Elephant Peace) कार्यक्रम अन्तर्गत उज्यालो नेपालद्वारा वन्यजन्तु संरक्षण तथा मानव–वन्यजन्तु सहअस्तित्व सम्बन्धी विद्यालय स्तरीय वन्यजन्तु शिक्षा कार्यशाला सञ्चालन गरियो। उक्त कार्यक्रम मिति २३ वैशाख २०८३ (6th May 2026) मा मधुवन नगरपालिका वडा नं. २, बंगालीपुरस्थित श्री मन्जुश्री शिशु वाटिका माध्यामिक विद्यालयमा तथा मिति २४ वैशाख २०८३ (7th May 2026) मा मधुवन नगरपालिका वडा नं. २, रजवारास्थित श्री सूर्य आधारभूत विद्यालयमा सफलतापूर्वक सम्पन्न गरिएको थियो। कार्यशालामा हात्ती संरक्षण, मानव–हात्ती द्वन्द्व न्यूनीकरण, मानव–वन्यजन्तु सहअस्तित्व तथा बाघ, चितुवा लगायत अन्य वन्यजन्तु प्रति सुरक्षित व्यवहार र संरक्षण सम्बन्धी शैक्षिक कार्यशालाहरू सञ्चालन गरियो।

With the objective of enhancing students’ knowledge, awareness, and capacity, Ujyalo Nepal conducted school-level wildlife education workshops on wildlife conservation and human–wildlife coexistence under the H.EL.P (Human Elephant Peace) Program. The program was successfully conducted on (6th May 2026) at Shree Manjushree Shishu Vatika Secondary School located in Bangalipur, Ward No. 2 of Madhuwan Municipality, and on (7th May 2026) at Shree Surya Basic School located in Rajwara, Ward No. 2 of Madhuwan Municipality. The workshops included educational sessions on elephant conservation, mitigation of human–elephant conflict, human–wildlife coexistence, and safe behavior and conservation practices related to other wildlife species such as tigers and leopards.

मानिस र बाघ तथा चितुवा बीच बढ्दो द्वन्द्वलाई न्युनीकरण गर्दै दिगो सहअस्तित्व प्रवर्द्धन गर्ने उद्देश्यले मधुवन नगरपालिका अन्तर्गत पर्ने Khata Corridor (खाता जैविक मार्ग) क्षेत्रका समुदायहरूमा वन्यजन्तु संरक्षण तथा सचेतनामूलक शिक्षा कार्यक्रम सञ्चालन गरिएको थियो। कार्यक्रममा सहभागी समुदायका सदस्यहरूलाई वन्यजन्तुको पारिस्थितिक महत्व, मानव–वन्यजन्तु द्वन्द्वका सम्भावित कारणहरू, द्वन्द्व न्युनिकरणका व्यवहारिक उपायहरू तथा सुरक्षित सहअस्तित्व कायम गर्ने सम्बन्धमा आवश्यक जानकारी प्रदान गरिएको थियो।

A Wildlife Conservation and Awareness Education Program was conducted in the communities of Madhuwan Municipality within the Khata Corridor area to reduce the increasing conflict between humans and large carnivores such as tigers and leopards and to promote sustainable coexistence. Through this program, community members were informed about the ecological importance of wildlife, the possible causes of human–wildlife conflict, practical measures to mitigate such conflicts, and safe practices for maintaining harmonious coexistence between people and wildlife.
