Hi! We're trying out a thing. Starting next week, we will be hosting a knowledge exchange for members twice a week for 1 hour. There will be one topic per month, and topics may repeat, ranging from music, to sound and production, to programming. Don't worry about attending each of them, but hop on if you feel like discussing or sharing your view. Not all topics may be relevant to you, particularly if you specialize, but I encourage you to join discussions anyway, for the sake of developing a shared language across the community.
The topic of February will be: HARMONY. How do you think about musical harmony? Does it come from formal studies, or did you develop your own philosophy? What kind of harmony sounds pleasant to you? Does it even need to sound pleasant? How do you relate it to melody? What is functional harmony? What is modal harmony? And so forth.
I can also share that March will likely focus on PRODUCTION, as we have an external person who might come in and talk a bit about mixing. TBA.
These will happen on our discord server under the members-only voice-channel. If you're not yet an official GAiN member, you can become one at https://www.gainorway.com/become-a-member
