Esperanto is a counterculture platform challenging the established and providing realistic alternatives to the norm. Our company name derives from the constructed language Esperanto, created in 1887 to serve as a universal bridge of communication, beyond geographical borders and cultural divisions. Everything we do is based on 3 key principles:

Therefore we aim to be open at all times regarding who we are, what our philosophy is, and what our business model looks like, as we want to archive a bilateral and long term relationship with our customers and partners based on mutual trust and goodwill.

We think that in union and diversity there is strength, as our different backgrounds and life experiences allow us to fill each other's gaps, this way elevating our group capacity to tackle any challenge. We want to create a strong community and an oasis detached from formalities and nonessentials, a place where everyone is welcome and feels at home, opening the doors to creativity and freedom of expression.

Our individual every day actions all carry with them reactions and consequences that not only shape us, but collectively also shape our world. By being aware of this, we have the duty to create a better present & future by making smart and conscious choices.

Starting with last April, our UTR aftermovies are taking a more documentary aproach with small interviews of the crew, artist and some of our steadfast and loyal volunteers and guest.

The goal is to better showcase and highlight the many moving parts of our event, and give a little peek into what happens behind the scenes.

Stave kultur- og nabolagshus på Bryn officially opened it's doors this past February, and funtions as a permanent base for 30 unique artist, musicians, craftmen and other creative souls.

For the 4th release in our "𝗗𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝘂𝗴" podcast series, we present a recording from an audiovisual performance by Akiko Nakayama and Eiichi Sawado, recorded at Under The Rug on October 4th, 2025 at Nydalen Fabrikker in Oslo.

Closing the second night of the festival, the duo transformed the room into a space of slow release. As dancers settled, sitting, lying down, or quietly drifting, the performance unfolded as the festival’s final breath.

Through her signature Alive Painting, Akiko Nakayama brought pigments, liquids, and light into constant motion. Projected in real time, colors collided, merged,and dissolved into hypnotic forms embodying what she describes as “the meeting of two colors that represent the dance of yin and yang.”
Alongside her, Eiichi Sawado shaped a delicate sonic landscape of experimental tones and evolving textures, moving in deep dialogue with the unfolding visuals.

Together, they created a fluid audiovisual ritual where painting, sound, and light became one living organism, slowly dissolving the dancefloor into the closing moment of the festival.

The music program for Under the Rug - April 2026 has now been fully revealed.

Nine (11 including Afterhours) exceptional international and national musical acts, ranging from jazz-techno hybrid, to tap dance & experimental-electronic fusion, to dub, UK bass, and more.
A carefully weaved journey spawning 2 days bringing together artist from 6 different countries: Japan-UK, Sweden, Norway, Danmark, Germany, France... most of them doing unique live acts specific to this time and place.

And the above is just the main pillar, sourounding it are the equally important:
- World class visuals & light shows
- Site-specific exhibitions and performances
- Talks & Workshops with leading professionals in the fields of medicine and psycology
- Conceptual spaces such as the Zen Garden and Bazaar..

All of this packed tightly together on an out of the ordinary (new) venue that has been meticulously tailored to the event!

What a time to be alive!
