When the local school closed its doors in 2012 the building was locked down for a year. Then some locals started working on the idea of bringing another kind of activity into the structure. Now we are happy to announce the building's re-opening as a community center. Langfjord has an agreement with the Alta municipality regarding short-term management of this center, as well as a long term plan to make it a permanent part of the community. We seek to stimulate the local economy and provide an incubator for local entrepreneurs who need an office space or a place to produce their products (on a small scale). By offering spaces for rent at affordable rates and concentrating this activity in a unique setting within the village, it will become easier for entrepreneurs to cooperate, share experience and network. Small office spaces, which range from 8 to 12 square meters, will rent for 1000 NOK per month. Large rooms, ranging from 30 to 35 square meters, will rent for 1200 NOK per month.
