The Counter Terrorism Research Group (CTRG) is a postgraduate student-run research group who seek to provide a platform where divergent academic interests and disciplines related to the study of terrorism can be fruitfully brought together. Areas of interest include terrorism and political violence, dynamics of asymmetric conflict, counter-terrorism, policing, intelligence and national security. T
hroughout the academic year, the CTRG initiates numerous activities with the objective of engaging with the study of terrorism and counterterrorism bringing students, members of staff and practitioners together in a vibrant atmosphere. The CTRG also aims to promote relations with other research groups, research centres, departments and institutions in order to advance multi-disciplinary approaches to the study of terrorism and counterterrorism. This year’s CTRG events include: a guest lecture series on a variety of topics related to terrorism and counterterrorism, informal paper presentations by postgraduate students and members of staff, round-table discussions on theories and methodologies of studying terrorism.
