The ASEAN Ladies Circle – The Hague celebrated friendship and culture at the Coffee Morning “Roti Jala Demonstration” hosted by ALC Vice President Madam Khadijah Kok Abdullah of the Embassy of Malaysia. The event was held at the Rumah Malaysia on 7 May.
During the program, Madam Khadijah delivered remarks, welcoming the members and introducing “Roti Jala” or net crepes which is a famous traditional Malay tea time snack, also served in weddings and festivals.
It was followed by a special introduction to the heritage of Roti Jala and a demonstration on how to prepare the dish. The ALC members had the opportunity to learn the technique in making the intricate net-like patterns of the dish.
The gathering concluded with a lucky draw and a delightful lunch featuring Roti Jala and other ASEAN local favorites.
The ASEAN Ladies Circle comprises the spouses of ASEAN Ambassadors and diplomats from Indonesia, Malaysia, Viet Nam, Thailand and the Philippines (current chair). It serves as a platform to promote the spirit of solidarity and togetherness within ASEAN, fostering friendship and cultural exchange among the ladies of ASEAN Embassies in The Hague.// END
