Compliments of the Season, Beauties!

The season of Easter symbolises selflessness, sacrifice, and love. It reflects so deeply the journey of migrant women strong and resilient women who leave behind comfort, stability, and past achievements in pursuit of a better life, safety, education, or for the sake of family, only to begin again in a new environment. Along this journey, many are faced with challenges such as legal documentation, finding stable employment, emotional stress, isolation, integration struggles, and language barriers. Over time, confidence can begin to fade, self-doubt creeps in, and impostor syndrome takes hold, causing many to settle for less or feel stuck.

But just as Easter represents renewal, there is always an opportunity to rebuild and rediscover ourselves. Through continuous growth, seminars, networking, and transformational training, we can renew our minds, rebuild our confidence, and reclaim our full potential. As beautifully said by Mother Teresa, “In life, we must make sacrifices for things to work to our advantage. A sacrifice to be real must cost, must hurt, and must empty ourselves.”

We warmly invite you to join our April session on Overcoming Self-Doubt & Impostor Syndrome on 25th April 2026, with a walk-in at 11:30 AM and the session running from 12:00- 4:00 PM at Het Koorenhuis, Prinsegracht 27, 2512 EW Den Haag.

Dear Beauties,

Happy weekend! We are still reeling in the spirit of the very empowering International Women’s Day. In the words of one of our speakers, “International Women’s Day is indeed reflective and empowering, but what follows next must be consistent personal development and continuous networking.”

The vision of the Thrive - Migrant Women Program is to provide a platform where highly skilled migrant women and experts, spouses and partners can learn, connect, grow, and truly thrive.
Relocating to a new country can be exciting, but it can also be overwhelming. After the initial excitement, many women begin to face the realities of documentation processes, job searching, rebuilding professional identity, and navigating a new culture. In this transition, many highly skilled migrant women, especially expert spouses and partners, experience isolation, loneliness, and a loss of confidence.

Through the first pillar of the Thrive program, which is Self-Reinvention, we intentionally create a supportive space where women can rediscover who they are and who they are becoming in their new environment. Self-reinvention is about reclaiming your voice, recognising your strengths, and rebuilding confidence after the disruptions migration can bring.

At THRIVE, we are working toward preventing isolation and loneliness, helping migrant women, expert spouses, and partners reclaim their power. Together, we are pulling down the stronghold of impostor syndrome that often causes many women to shrink in confidence when they arrive in a new country. Our goal is to create a space where women can rebuild confidence, learn, grow, connect, and truly thrive.

As part of this journey, we invite you to join an empowering workshop on:

Finding Yourself Again After Migration: Rebuilding Confidence, Identity & Purpose.

Our guest speaker, Zoi Mylona, Psychologist and Certified Systemic Therapist, will guide us through a reflective and empowering session to help you reconnect with your strengths, identity, and purpose.

Date: 28 March 2026

Walk-in: 11:30 AM | Session: 12:00 – 4:00 PM

Venue: Het Koorenhuis, Prinsegracht 27, Den Haag

Don’t let uncertainty stop you from growing. The more you learn, the more clarity you gain. Only 16 spots are available. Please register early if your schedule allows.

Happy Midweek, Beauties!

Compliments of the season to our beautiful, resilient, and progressive Thrivers. As we step into this new year at Thrive Community, we declare it a Year of Shift, a shift from surviving to truly thriving. We move forward with confidence, hope, and the assurance that we will not only meet our goals but thrive beyond expectation in all our endeavours.

The journey of migration is deeply transformational, and it is not linear.
Cultural integration takes time, patience, compassion, and self-love.
According to John Trivonovitch, cultural adjustment unfolds in four cyclical stages, not a straight line:

1. Honeymoon Stage: Excitement, hope, and curiosity define this phase. Everything feels new and full of possibility as migrant women arrive, inspired by life and opportunities in the Netherlands. 2. Hostility Stage: Challenges emerge. Language barriers, cultural differences, and navigating systems can feel overwhelming, leading to frustration, self-doubt, and anxiety. This stage is difficult, yet a normal and necessary part of growth.
3. Integration Stage: Confidence builds. Women begin to understand the culture, communicate more effectively, form networks, and develop a growing sense of belonging and empowerment.
4. Home Stage: The Netherlands feels like home. Women actively contribute, lead, and belong while honouring both their roots and their future. Integration becomes intentional and sustainable.

At Thrive, we recognise that the migrant journey is emotional and often cyclical, but every stage brings growth. Our mission is to support women in moving beyond the challenges of adjustment into stages of integration and belonging, where confidence, clarity, and purpose can flourish. Guided by the belief that your state of mind shapes your story, and your story shapes your strategies.

Our programs focus on meaningful mindset shifts from isolation to connection, from limiting beliefs to empowerment, and from confusion to clarity. With the support of our facilitators and the Thrive team, women are empowered to reframe their stories, build emotional resilience, and take intentional steps toward the lives they are creating in the Netherlands.

We begin the year with purpose through Clarity Over Chaos: Mental Health Tools for Decision-Making, Focus, and Hope for Migrant Women, facilitated by the International Mental Care psychologists Anna Zacharelou and Celina Strater, alongside a calming breathing session with Coach Veena Joseph. This session is designed to help participants pause instead of panic, reduce anxiety, regain focus, and move forward with one clear goal at a time.

Gratitude.

As we reflect on 2025, we are deeply grateful for the growth we’ve experiencednumerically, personally, and collectively. Advancement begins with gratitude, and none of this would be possible without a formidable community.

To our dedicated team, advisors, board members, facilitators, participants, partners, and sponsors, thank you for your commitment, wisdom, and belief in our mission. You embody the spirit of Ubuntu: “I am because we are.” Your presence is the catalyst that keeps us moving forward.

Because of your support, migrant women are moving from isolation to confidence, from uncertainty to participation, and from limitation to possibility.

As the year comes to an end, take a moment to reflect: What are you grateful for? Name five things.

Wishing you an empowering holiday season and a New Year filled with purpose, growth, and positive energy.

“Celebrate what you want to see more of.” Tom Peters

Dear Beauty, Happy New Month!

Just within the twinkling of an eye, we find ourselves in the 11th month of the year 2025!

As a migrant in a new country, it’s natural to pause and wonder:

“Am I really making progress?”

“Have I achieved any tangible goals, or am I falling behind?”

You might look at your list of aspirations and feel there’s still so much left to do. You might even ask yourself, “How can I truly navigate my way in this new country?”

We want you to know that the pathway to any progress is gratitude.

There’s a saying that goes, “If you leave a place for a while, by the time you return, something will have shifted.” Even if your goals seem distant or your progress invisible, trust that something powerful is evolving within you, growth that builds character, resilience, and self-improvement.

That’s why this month, the Thrive Platform is excited to welcome Sarah Feid, Account Manager at The Hague International Centre, the official arm of the Municipality of The Hague (Gemeente Den Haag) that helps internationals feel at home and navigate their journey in Den Haag.

Sarah will be facilitating a special training titled“Building a New Life in The Hague: Support, Work, and Community for Internationals.”

It’s going to be an eye-opening and empowering session designed to help you explore opportunities and thrive in your host city.

Happy New Week, beauties!
How was your weekend? Did it inspire you or give you a chance to recharge? As we step into a fresh week, remember that every day is an opportunity to move closer to our dreams and goals.

One of the most effective ways to spark new ideas and gain awareness is by attending empowering gatherings that expand our knowledge, fuel our creativity, and motivate us to take precise, meaningful action. Surrounding ourselves with supportive minds and practical wisdom can make all the difference. As Maya Angelou said, “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.”

Choosing to build career stability not only for personal economic security but also for community contribution is very important, as is understanding how to avoid falling into an irregular immigration status. Additionally, building resilience in the AI age is an essential skill in this season. Pay attention! Becoming the extraordinary version of yourself begins with your own proactive steps.

Get ready for inspiration and practical insights from our incredible facilitators: Myra Colis, Women’s Empowerment Advocate and International Technology Law Specialist. She will lead a session on women’s roles in shaping the AI age, empowering our voices and visions. Amerik Klapwijk, Policy Officer and Labour Law Expert, will demystify wage formation, trade unions, and opportunities for migrant professionals. Ruth Binnendijk, Legal Expert specialising in immigration and international law, provides essential legal knowledge every migrant woman needs to thrive in The Hague.

Join us this month for the special edition of our Thrive Monthly Empowerment Event!

Dear Beauties,

Happy Thursday! A perfect time to pause, reflect, and refuel with purpose.

One of the biggest challenges many migrant women face is understanding how to navigate the system and position themselves for growth, success, and true thriving. All too often, we underestimate the power of non-formal learning like attending seminars, personal development sessions, and networking events.

But lasting growth comes from living a holistic life, nourishing your mind, expanding your perspective, and connecting with others on the same journey.

We encourage you: Come and gain powerful insights that will renew your mind, transform your outlook, and build your confidence. When we hear each other’s stories, we realise we’re not alone. That sense of community will inspire you and release the positive energy you need to keep thriving.

Join us this month for our special session: Cross-Cultural Communication & Working Across Cultures. Check the flyers for more details.

Happy Weekend, Everyone! 🌿

As you take a moment to breathe this weekend, remember: life doesn’t always unfold according to our aspirations or timelines. Sometimes, the doors we hope will open stay closed a little longer. But even in those moments, your growth is not on pause.

Continue to invest in yourself by learning intentionally, seeking out well-meaning information, and surrounding yourself with people and networks that inspire action, purpose, and participation. Growth doesn’t always roar; sometimes it’s quiet learning, steady persistence, and simply showing up when it’s hardest.

"Energy and persistence conquer all things." Benjamin Franklin

So keep going. Every effort, every step forward, and every lesson learned is part of your becoming. In all labour, there is profit; it may not be immediate, but inevitably.

At Thrive Migrant Women Platform, we see your strength, your resilience, and the fire that brought you this far. We know the journey hasn’t been easy, but just by choosing to start over in a new country, you've already proven that you are brave, resourceful, and filled with purpose.

Happy New Week from the Thrive Empowerment Team!
Thank you all!

What a phenomenal Saturday we had! Our Career Hackathon was nothing short of transformative, and every moment was worthy of the efforts poured in. We want to extend deep gratitude to everyone who made it possible: To all our incredible Facilitators, your commitment, knowledge, and presence were the heart of the event.

A special thank you to Ata Akpojiyovbi for your grace, patience, poise, engaging tone, warm presence, and that charming smile that lit up the room. Your one-on-one moments, compelling story, and powerful presentation left a lasting impact on us all. You are truly inspiring!

Thank you, Nelson T. Ajulo, PhD, for spotlighting the gender gap in Tech – your data-driven insights were eye-opening and deeply valuable. His highlight: Women must boldly position themselves in the tech industry not as observers, but as innovators, leaders, and decision-makers. The future of tech needs diverse perspectives, and women bring unmatched value to the table.

A huge shout-out to our photographer and makeup artist; your professionalism added a vibrant touch to the atmosphere and captured the essence of the day beautifully.

And yes, the food is delicious and satisfying! It added warmth and comfort to the experience.

To all our amazing participants, we appreciate your engaged presence. We believe this is just the beginning. We hope you’ll take decisive steps toward your dreams. We’re rooting for your testimonies!

To our dedicated volunteers and event coordinators, thank you for your tireless efforts.
A heartfelt thanks to our in-house coach, Veena Joseph; your guidance continues to uplift and empower.
This event would not have been possible without our generous sponsors: Fonds 1818, Haags Groene Kruis Fonds and Gemeente Den Haag taal in de buurt. Your support empowers migrant women to pursue self-reinvention, integration, and economic participation in The Hague. We are immensely grateful for your partnership in this mission.

At Thrive Empowerment, we believe the journey of a migrant is heroic, and when met with the right opportunities, that journey becomes a catalyst for growth, confidence, and belonging. We are proud to say:
Saturday was a signature moment, intense, social, empowering, and unforgettable.

Let's keep the momentum going! Cheers to your extraordinary self!
