A fascinating look at the future of advanced therapies in Brazil 🇧🇷
During a recent trip to Brazil, Martine Pergent, President of IPOPI, had the opportunity to visit the brand-new CAR-T cell production unit at the Fernandes Figueira National Institute of Women’s, Children’s and Adolescents’ Health in Rio de Janeiro.
The Institute is a leading public hospital, teaching and research centre, collaborating with laboratories in the United States, Europe and China on several innovative projects, including CAR-T cell production. The new unit is expected to become operational by the end of the year as part of a two-year clinical trial involving cancer patients.
Its work reflects an important ambition: to expand access to advanced therapies through research, innovation and technology transfer.
A warm thank you to Juçaíra Giusti, from IPOPI’s NMO in Brazil, for making this fascinating visit possible, and to Zilton Vasconcelos, Research Coordinator at the Institute, and the entire team for their warm welcome, for presenting their projects and for taking the time to answer so many questions.
It was a valuable opportunity to see first-hand how research and collaboration can help bring innovative therapies closer to patients. 🧬
