On friday 29th May a training session on learning and developmental disabilities was delivered by To My Aid in collaboration with Inclusion Tamale.
During the training, we discussed the importance of understanding the differences between children and looking beyond behaviour to identify underlying needs and challenges. Behaviour is often a form of communication, and greater awareness helps teachers provide more effective support and create a more inclusive learning environment.
The training was received with great enthusiasm. Participants expressed how valuable it was to gain a better understanding of developmental delays, autism, learning difficulties, and practical strategies for supporting children with diverse learning needs.
An important point raised during the discussions was that awareness should not be limited to teachers alone. Parents and the wider community also play a crucial role in supporting children with disabilities and developmental differences. Together, we can promote greater understanding, acceptance, and opportunities for every child.
This training marks an important first step, and we look forward to continuing this work in the future.
