Land Art Contemporary organises excursions to Broken Circle/Spiral Hill and develops present-day Land Art works inspired by Robert Smithson.

https://brokencircle.nl Land Art Contemporary is a new initiative in Drenthe to be launched on 17 September 2011 with a varied, international, multiyear programme dealing with (the contemporary aspects of) land art. Land Art Contemporary will focus on presenting existing and new art projects and cultural heritage in the rural environment of Drenthe, by adding a series of new and modern elements.

Land Art Contemporary organiseert in 2025/2026 i.s.m. Diep Emmen een reeks bus-excursies naar Broken Circle/Spiral Hill in Emmen. Ieder seizoen kan je een bezoek brengen aan dit wereldberoemde land art werk van Robert Smithson uit 1971.

Om zo weinig mogelijk impact op de locatie te hebben, organiseren we excursies naar het kunstwerk per bus. Vertrek vanaf station Emmen Zuid.

Het is voor het eerst sinds 2021 dat Broken Circle/Spiral Hill gedurende een aantal weekenden te bezoeken is. Normaal is het kunstwerk niet publiek toegankelijk omdat het op privéterrein ligt.

Good News: excursions to Broken Circle/Spiral Hill starting!

Land Art Contemporary, in cooperation with Diep Emmen, is organizing a series of bus excursions to Broken Circle/Spiral Hill in Emmen in the Netherlands in 2025/2026. Each season you can visit this world-renowned 1971 land art work by Robert Smithson.

To minimize impact on the site, we organize excursions to the artwork by bus. Departure from station Emmen Zuid, in the Netherlands.

This is the first time since 2021 that Broken Circle/Spiral Hill can be visited during several weekends. Normally, the artwork is not open to the public because it is on private property.
