Gate 48

gate48 is a platform for Israelis living in the Netherlands who oppose the occupation of Palestinian territories and call for its end. gate48 was founded in 2007 by three Israeli women, living in the Netherlands. We, members of gate48, see Israel as our home: we are connected to Israel by our families, the Hebrew language, the food, the smells and the landscape. That does not mean that we necessar

ily agree with our government at all times. As Israelis living in the Netherlands, we wish to convey that criticizing Israel’s official policy is not the same as being anti-Israeli. gate48 supports non-violent resistance to the occupation. We see the occupation as the main reason for human right violations conducted by the Israeli government against Palestinians, including home demolitions, restrictions of movement, child arrests and resource grabbing. We believe that security for both peoples can never be achieved by suppressing others or by hiding behind concrete walls, but only by ending the occupation. Respect for human rights and international law is the only basis for justice and for creating the possibility for a shared and prosperous future for Israelis and Palestinians. Two peoples who share the same land must also share equal justice and equal rights. gate48 organizes activities in the Netherlands that provide a platform to people from Israel/Palestine who resist the occupation in non-violent ways. We organise public-meetings, exhibitions, screenings and lectures in the Netherlands and expert missions to Israel/Palestine. Our mission is to raise awareness in the Netherlands to voices and grassroot activities that are often left unheard, or considered marginal; voices and activities that refuse to accept the current reality as a given and that assert alternative ways of understanding and framing possibilities of resistance or change.

SILENT PROTEST
Sunday, 22 March @17:00 Spui

In the shadow of Israel’s regional aggression, Palestinians live under daily terror.
State supported pogroms, ethnic cleansing and land theft in the West Bank keep escalating.
The West Bank is now more than ever lawless; daily attacks and executions by settlers and soldiers force Palestinians to flee their homes and land.

In Gaza, since October 2023, the Israeli army killed more than 72,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children. The killing is still continuing since the so-called “ceasefire”. In violation of the cease-fire agreement of October 2025, Israel is preventing aid and food from entering the Gaza Strip.

We, Israeli citizens, call for accountability, recognition and justice.

Therefore, this Sunday, March 22 17:00, we will meet at Spui for our Silent Vigil, to give voice to these demands.

SILENT PROTEST
Sunday, 1 February @17:00 Spui

Here’s why we continue our Sunday Silent Vigil:

On 9 October 2025 Israel and Hamas signed a ceasefire exchange. The mass bombing stopped.

However
- Since the ceasefire began on October 10, at least 488 Palestinians have been killed by the Israeli army, including 136 children.
- Israeli settlers carry out daily pogroms against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, as the Israeli army and police stand idly by.
- the Israeli military is still occupying most of Gaza.
- humanitarian aid is still limited.
- thousands of Palestinians are still held illegally in Israeli prisons without charges or trial in inhumane conditions, among them 37 medical professionals.
- As a result of these conditions, at least 98 political prisoners have died due to denial of medical care, abuse, and torture, which have become routine across security agencies and detention facilities.
- international press is still banned from entering.

We, Israeli citizens, call for accountability, recognition and justice for Palestine.

Therefore, this Sunday, February 1st 17:00, we will meet at Spui for our Silent Vigil, to give voice to these demands.
