Hozeifa (with the red vest) was 10 years old when he joined the Elrayan School, coming from a class of some 100 children at a private school. As most of the students are from the south of the country and he comes from the north, he had to get used to the new environment. But after a few weeks, he knew he wanted to stay. “It is much better organised here,” he said. “The teachers are also much nicer. They explain things to us. And at the other school, they beat us really hard.”

He likes maths and singing, and later wants to work in his father’s garage.

School exam season started in Khartoum state on March 28! This means a great deal of the students are taking their final exams at exam centres in Khartoum, Omdurman, and Khartoum North. Not that easy for many as the transport costs are soaring and many parents still don't have their jobs back after the war.
Here you see the final year students of Elrayan Middle School in Omdurman preparing for the exams.
At the study camp set up by the school, students and teachers worked hard to catch up on the study delay from previous years.
We wish the students a lot of success!

Eid Mubarak! This year in Omdurman, the sister city of Khartoum, the feast is special. It is the first one after the war. The west of the city, where the kindergarten we support is located, was occupied by the RSF militia. But now they’re liberated it is time to celebrate again! Here you see some pics of preschoolers playing in their best clothes at the kindergarten during the eid.

Hungry students in Sudan need school breakfast to function well. We need your help to provide them with a daily meal. Often this breakfast is the only meal they get!

With your help East Africa Education Foundation can support self-help schools in Sudan. With €10 a month, four children get a school breakfast! One-off donations are also welcome!
