A greener future together!

NicaPhoto, in coordination with the Nagarote Mayor’s Office and with the support of Holcim Nicaragua, participated in a reforestation project in the community of Monte Cristo. High school students from our Community Social Volunteering Program planted tempisque trees they had nurtured from seedlings, along with other forest and ornamental species.

Beyond planting trees, we are cultivating community engagement and ecological awareness for generations to come. 🌿

Un futuro más verde juntos!

NicaPhoto, en coordinación con la Alcaldía de Nagarote y con el apoyo de Holcim Nicaragua, participó en un proyecto de reforestación en la comunidad de Monte Cristo. Estudiantes de secundaria de nuestro Programa de Voluntariado Social Comunitario sembraron árboles de tempisque que habían cultivado desde plántulas, junto con otras especies forestales y ornamentales.

Más que sembrar árboles, estamos promoviendo la participación comunitaria y la conciencia ecológica para las futuras generaciones. 🌿

Book Club: We Talk and Connect 📚☕

Last month, our High School Book Club visited Café Olé, a local coffee shop, to spend time together and reflect on “Image Isn’t Everything” from Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul.

Over coffee and conversation, students shared ideas, connected, and learned together.

El mes pasado, nuestro Club de Lectura de Secundaria visitó Café Olé, una cafetería local, para convivir y reflexionar sobre “La imagen no lo es todo” de Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul.

Club de Mini Chicos

During our latest gathering, our preteens reflected on the importance of making responsible choices and taking care of themselves.

Through real-life scenarios and group discussions, they explored peer pressure, the risks of drug use, and healthy ways to handle challenging situations. They also identified trusted adults they can turn to when they need support. 🤝

Learning to make good choices, recognize risks, and ask for help is an important part of healthy growth and well-being. ✨

Club de Mini Chicos

Durante nuestro último encuentro, nuestros preadolescentes reflexionaron sobre la importancia de tomar decisiones responsables y cuidar de sí mismos.

A través de situaciones de la vida cotidiana y conversaciones grupales, exploraron temas como la presión de grupo, los riesgos del consumo de dr**as y formas saludables de afrontar situaciones difíciles. También identificaron adultos de confianza a quienes pueden acudir cuando necesitan apoyo. 🤝

Aprender a tomar buenas decisiones, reconocer los riesgos y pedir ayuda es una parte importante de un crecimiento saludable y del bienestar. ✨

Earlier this month, representatives from SSI visited our program to speak with our girls’ robotics group about their experiences as women working in STEM-related fields. Through their stories and insights, they encouraged our students to pursue their interests in science, technology, and research, while highlighting the many opportunities available to them.

The visit also included a discussion on dengue prevention, contributing to MINSA’s important work and sharing practical ways for students to protect their health and help build a safer, healthier community.

These meaningful interactions inspire young women to explore new possibilities, believe in their potential, and recognize the important role they can play in creating positive change and helping keep their communities safe.

A principios de este mes, representantes de ICS visitaron nuestro programa para conversar con nuestro grupo de chicas de robótica sobre sus experiencias como mujeres que trabajan en campos relacionados con STEM. A través de sus historias y conocimientos, motivaron a nuestras estudiantes a seguir sus intereses en ciencia, tecnología e investigación, destacando las numerosas oportunidades que tienen a su alcance.

La visita también incluyó una charla sobre la prevención del dengue, contribuyendo al importante trabajo del MINSA y compartiendo formas prácticas en las que las estudiantes pueden proteger su salud y aportar a una comunidad más segura y saludable.

Estas interacciones significativas inspiran a las jóvenes a explorar nuevas posibilidades, creer en su potencial y reconocer el importante papel que pueden desempeñar para generar cambios positivos y ayudar a mantener seguras a sus comunidades.

En NicaPhoto, nuestro Círculo de Padres es un espacio donde madres, padres y familias se reúnen para conectar, reflexionar y aprender. La semana pasada, reflexionamos sobre la importancia del acompañamiento familiar en el aprendizaje de niñas, niños y adolescentes, y sobre cómo podemos apoyarles mejor en sus procesos.

At our Girls’ and Boys’ Club gatherings, we created a space to celebrate values and discover how they shape who we are and how we connect with others. 💛

Last week, each participant chose the value that best represents them and shared why. Their words, stories, and reflections reminded us of the beautiful qualities that make each one unique. ✨

Values aren’t just learned—they’re lived, practiced, and woven into the people we become.

En nuestros encuentros de los Clubes de Chicas y Chicos, creamos un espacio para celebrar los valores y descubrir cómo estos dan forma a quienes somos y a la manera en que nos relacionamos con los demás. 💛

La semana pasada, cada participante eligió el valor que mejor lo representa y compartió por qué. Sus palabras, historias y reflexiones nos recordaron las hermosas cualidades que hacen único a cada uno. ✨

Celebrating Growth, Confidence, and New Possibilities

We proudly celebrated the closing of Lean Girls, a Holcim program in partnership with NicaPhoto. Over eight sessions, participants connected, learned, reflected, and developed tools to strengthen their personal growth and confidence.

This final celebration was a moment to honor their journey, achievements, and the possibilities that lie ahead. 💛

A special thank you to the Holcim mentors for their continued guidance, support, and inspiration throughout this journey.

La semana pasada celebramos con orgullo la clausura de Lean Girls, un programa de Holcim en coordinación con NicaPhoto. Durante ocho sesiones, las participantes conectaron, aprendieron, reflexionaron y desarrollaron herramientas para fortalecer su crecimiento personal y su confianza.

Este encuentro final fue un momento para reconocer su camino, sus logros y las posibilidades que tienen por delante. 💛
