SHEAdapt Graduation Ceremony Successfully Concluded!

What began as a vision to empower women through climate action, clean energy, and economic opportunity has now culminated in a remarkable celebration of resilience, transformation, and impact.

On 6th and 7th June 2026, The Life We Deserve Foundation, with the support of DIFFvelopment, successfully held the graduation ceremony for the Sustainable Health and Empowerment of Women Through Climate Adaptation Practices (SHEAdapt) Project.

Over the course of the project, women from Giwa, Kudan, and Sabon Gari LGAs of Kaduna State were equipped with knowledge and practical skills in climate adaptation, clean cooking solutions, eco-friendly briquette production, entrepreneurship, branding, and business development. More importantly, they were empowered to become agents of change within their homes and communities.

The graduation ceremony was a moment of reflection, recognition, and inspiration as beneficiaries shared their stories of growth, increased income, improved health, and renewed confidence.

This achievement demonstrates that when women are provided with the right knowledge, skills, and opportunities, they become powerful drivers of environmental sustainability, community resilience, and economic development.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to our project participants, community leaders, health professionals, local stakeholders, and our incredible partner, DIFFvelopment, for making this journey possible.

The graduation marks the end of the project, but it is only the beginning of a larger movement toward healthier families, cleaner energy, empowered women, and climate-resilient communities.

The Life We Deserve Foundation, with the support of DIFFvelopment, is proud to announce the graduation ceremony for the Sustainable Health and Empowerment of Women Through Climate Adaptation Practices (SHEAdapt) Project.

Over the past 12 months, SHEAdapt has empowered 60 women across Giwa, Kudan, and Sabon Gari LGAs of Kaduna State with knowledge and practical skills in climate adaptation, clean energy solutions, eco-friendly briquette production, entrepreneurship, branding, and green business development. Through this journey, women have transformed climate challenges into opportunities for improved health, sustainable livelihoods, and environmental action.

The graduation ceremony will celebrate the dedication, resilience, and achievements of the women beneficiaries who successfully completed the project and launched their green enterprise journeys. It will also serve as an opportunity to reflect on the project’s impact in advancing women-led climate solutions and sustainable community development.

NEW PROJECT ANNOUNCEMENT
We are excited to launch the Strengthening Community-led Climate Governance and Accountability Project (SCCGAP), a six-month scale-up initiative building on the impact and lessons from our LoCCAAP project in Tudun Jukun Community, Zaria LGA, Kaduna State.

Through our previous engagement with the community, we realized that environmental challenges are not only about climate impacts, but also about participation, accountability, and governance. Communities want to be involved in decisions that affect their environment and livelihoods.

SCCGAP will strengthen community participation in climate governance through dialogue sessions, community research, and capacity-building workshops, to promote environmental accountability and citizen engagement.

This project reflects our commitment to building communities where climate action is inclusive, transparent, and community-driven.

Impact Update - Driving Environmental Change Through Women-Led Action

Over the past three months, following the eco-briquette training and startup support provided to 60 women across 3 LGAs in Kaduna State, we have been conducting consistent Monitoring and Evaluation visits to understand the real impact of the SHEAdapt project, and the insights have been both powerful and inspiring. Below are some of the impact stories:

1. Transforming Energy Use, Protecting the Environment
A significant 95.1% of the women have reduced their reliance on firewood and charcoal, marking a major shift away from unsustainable energy sources. This transition is contributing to reduced deforestation, lower carbon emissions, and the promotion of cleaner, more sustainable energy alternatives within households and communities. By turning agricultural waste into eco-friendly briquettes, these women are not only adopting climate-smart practices but also actively contributing to environmental conservation and resource efficiency.

2. Cleaner Cooking, Healthier Lives
The adoption of clean cooking alternatives has also translated into tangible health benefits. 77% of beneficiaries reported improvements in health conditions, particularly those linked to prolonged exposure to smoke and indoor air pollution. This reinforces the critical intersection between climate action, energy access, and public health outcomes for women and their families.

3. From Climate Action to Economic Empowerment
Beyond environmental and health gains, the project is driving meaningful economic change. 88.3% of the women are now earning above ₦10,000 monthly through their briquette businesses. What began as a climate adaptation intervention is now evolving into a pathway for financial independence, local enterprise development, and long-term resilience.

A Model for Sustainable Communities
SHEAdapt project continues to demonstrate that when women are equipped with the right knowledge, tools, and support, they become powerful agents of change, leading solutions that are environmentally sustainable, economically viable, and socially impactful.

We’re proud to announce our partnership with Sustainable Participatory Development and Climate Resilience Initiative (SPiD) to support the AYEDE for Climate Action Fellowship

Through this collaboration, we will support mentor engagement, amplify program visibility, and create post-fellowship placement opportunities for fellows, ensuring a strong transition from learning to real-world climate impact.

This partnership reflects our shared commitment to empowering young African leaders with the skills, networks, and opportunities needed to drive sustainable change in their communities.
