Last week, En Aawa Trees Foundation was privileged to participate in the Blue Zone at UNCCD COP17 Mongolia in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia 🇲🇳
It was an honour to contribute to this important global conversation on land, drought and desertification. Dubbed the “COP of Implementation,” COP17 carried forward the momentum from COP16 in Riyadh, with a clear focus on turning commitments into action.
As we look ahead to COP18 in Egypt, we are excited to take the next step: turning the connections, ideas and commitments from Mongolia into practical projects, stronger partnerships and lasting impact on the ground.
Swipe through for some of our highlights from COP17.
At COP17, we launched our first Biannual Impact Report, reflecting on two years of En Aawa’s journey since COP16 in Riyadh.
The report highlights what we’ve achieved, how we work with communities and partners, the people and organisations supporting our mission, and our ambitions for the years ahead.
Two years of progress. The next chapter begins now.
We attended a fascinating side event at the Saudi Pavilion on Innovation for Strengthening Drought Resilience under a Changing Climate.
The panel brought together representatives from UNCCD, the Saudi National Center for Meteorology, and the Saudi Cloud Seeding Programme, sharing insights into innovative technologies being developed to strengthen drought resilience.

A valuable conversation on both the potential, and the limits of innovation.
We had a fruitful and insightful meeting with Ambassador Usman Aliyu, Director-General of the Great Green Wall for Borno State.
He shared valuable insights and wisdom from his extensive experience in land restoration and resilience, which we greatly appreciated.
We also discussed opportunities to expand En Aawa’s work into Borno State and explore areas for collaboration.
We’re excited about the potential of this partnership and
