Two Weeks in the Dark: A Crisis of Conscience

"A classroom is meant to be a sanctuary of dreams, not a hunting ground for terror."

Two weeks. Fourteen agonizing nights.
For fourteen days, school children in Oyo State have been torn from their classrooms, their families, and their innocence—held captive by forces that trade in human lives. This is not just an attack on these innocent souls; it is a direct assault on the collective future of Nigeria.

Every second they remain in captivity, a piece of our national conscience erodes. Education should be a ladder to a brighter destiny, not a vulnerability that invites terror. We cannot look away, we cannot grow numb, and we cannot remain silent.
We stand with the agonizing parents waiting for the return of their world. We call upon every authority, every leader, and every community to act with the utmost urgency.
Bring our children back to the safety of their classrooms. Protect their future, because without them, we have none.

As we enter the month of June, Hyelansinta Women Children and Youth Initiative reaffirms its commitment to driving sustainable development, fostering resilience, and creating impactful opportunities across our target demographics. This month, our strategic focus centers on accelerating progress, ensuring safety, and unlocking the potential of those we serve.

Women Empowerment: We focus on enhancing socio-economic resilience by equipping women with the resources, leadership skills, and capacity-building frameworks necessary to foster independence and community leadership.

Child Protection & Development: Our priority remains steadfast on advocacy and safeguarding. We are dedicated to creating secure, nurturing environments that guarantee access to health, protection from vulnerabilities, and fundamental developmental support.

Youth Engagement & Innovation: We aim to channel the potential of our youth into productive, future-ready pathways. Through structured mentorship and skill acquisition, we empower the next generation to break socio-economic barriers and lead impactful community initiatives.

Today should be a day of unbridled joy, laughter, and celebration. Instead, our hearts bleed for the innocent children, aged just 2 to 7, who were violently torn from their families by bandits in Oyo State last week.

A child’s rightful place is in the warm embrace of their parents, playing safely in their neighborhoods, and dreaming of a bright future—not holding on for survival in the dark shadows of captivity. On this Children’s Day, the Hyelansinta Women, Children and Youth Initiative stands in profound solidarity with the distraught parents and families enduring this unimaginable nightmare. We are not just celebrating the children who are here; we are fiercely holding a beacon of hope for those who are missing.

To the families: You are not alone. Our collective voice, our tears, and our unceasing prayers are with you. We lift our voices to the heavens, praying for their supernatural protection, comfort, and immediate, safe return to your arms.
We call on the authorities and security agencies to spare no effort, leave no stone unturned, and bring these innocent souls back home immediately. Safety is a fundamental right of every child.

The Cry of the Unheard Tongue

There is a profound ache in the human heart when the Living Word remains locked in a foreign language. For over three decades I have watched communities weep tears of overwhelming joy the exact moment they hear the Creator of the universe speak to them, not through an interpreter, but in the precise cadence of their mother tongue.

Right now, across thousands of hills and valleys, entire tribes are waiting. They have never seen John 3:16 written in the words they use to comfort their children or sing their joys.
We are looking for those communities.
If your people, your clan, or your tribe do not yet have the Holy Scriptures translated into your local dialect, the silence ends today. We want to hear from you. We want to stand with you.
