ONE YEAR IN OFFICE: A Statement by the Pioneer President, University of Africa Toru-Orua Alumni Association
As I mark one year in office as President of the University of Africa Toru-Orua (UAT) Alumni Association, I find it necessary to reflect with gratitude on the journey so far and the modest but meaningful strides we have made together in advancing our Association and supporting our great Alma Mater.
From my very first day in office, I was guided by a commitment to service, responsibility, and impact. In this spirit, I donated a significant number of ID card tags to the Student Union Government of the University of Africa, Toru-Orua—a gesture that was warmly received and appreciated by the then SUG President and members of the executive council.
Within less than one month of my administration, we successfully completed the registration of the UAT Alumni Association. This achievement laid a solid legal and administrative foundation for the Association and reaffirmed our collective resolve to build a credible, structured, and forward-looking alumni body.
In further demonstration of our commitment to institutional development, I facilitated the donation of modern writing materials—including whiteboards, markers, and dusters—to the University of Africa, Toru-Orua. I remain grateful to the university management for their appreciation and support of this gesture. The Koufa-led government organized a standard convocation dinner night, honoring the overall best graduating student, Comr. Nicholas John, and best graduating students of each program.
To strengthen transparency and accountability, a functional bank account for the Alumni Association was opened within my first month in office. This step has enhanced financial stability and positioned the Association for sustainable growth.
Additionally, within the past year, I initiated the process for the review and adoption of the Association’s constitution by setting up a dedicated committee. This process is ongoing and, upon completion, will further strengthen our governance structure and operational efficiency.
As I reflect on these twelve months, I am convinced that we are celebrating more than just a year in office—we are celebrating twelve months of purposeful, impactful leadership that has provided our Association with stability, direction, and renewed confidence.
I sincerely appreciate every member of the UAT Alumni Association and all stakeholders who have supported this administration. Together, I look forward to deepening our contributions and doing even more for the continued growth and development of our Alma Mater.
Signed:
Comr. KOUFA, Samuel Akpoabo-owei
Worldwide President, UAT Alumni Association.
