Peter Obi: Benue Protest Against My Visit Initiated by Governor’s Special Adviser

I am currently in Benue State to express my condolences to the families who have lost over 200 members to terrorist attacks in recent times.

However, I have been informed that youths, led by the Special Adviser to the Benue State Governor, have blocked the road to prevent me from proceeding. I have been here for a while, hoping they would see reason.
We cannot continue like this.

There are people who are hungry and insecure. These are the same people we must lift out of poverty by creating opportunities for them to earn a livelihood. That is one of the key purposes of my visit.

Peter Obi came to Benue to visit communities affected by killings and sympathise with families who have lost loved ones. Yet his convoy was reportedly blocked along the Makurdi–Gboko Road by youths who said they did not want him in the state.

But what exactly is Obi’s crime?

Is it because he is not a member of the APC?

Governor Hyacinth Alia’s government has denied involvement and said it was not aware of Obi’s visit. Fine. Then, as the chief security officer of the state, the governor should ensure that those responsible are identified and held accountable.

Because this is not how democracy should work.

What is even more painful is that many of the youths being used for political intimidation are themselves victims of the same system. Some have lost loved ones to insecurity. Some have been displaced from their ancestral homes. Some have relatives struggling in IDP camps.

Yet they are being turned against fellow Nigerians because of politics.

Benue people need security, food, jobs and protection—not political thuggery.

Governor Alia, whether or not your government was involved, you cannot simply look away. This happened under your watch, and the people deserve answers.

Peter Obi is a Nigerian citizen and a former governor. He has every right to visit any part of Nigeria.

Benue belongs to all Nigerians, not to any political party.

Today it is Peter Obi. Tomorrow, it could be you.

This political intolerance must stop!

A one page report of 2023 Presidential Election

- When you depend on the IREV, you may be limited to 138K locations.

- But, when you have an independent agent network. You become limitless and are able to see through 176K locations.

- When such agent network, arms you with the truth. Dealing with manipulators becomes super easy.

That's why populating the PUs is critical.

*But how do you do that scalably?*

*The 2023 Presidential Election Report - The 38K Missing Sheets Problem*

*What INEC Announced*

- APC: 8.7M > PDP: 6.9M > LP: 6.1M > NNPP: 1.4M > Others: 0.6M

- Total: ∼24 million votes from 176K Polling Units

*What INEC Actually Published on IREV*

1. *138K "Clean" sheets* - Clear, uploaded, readable

2. *38K "Unclean" sheets* - Blurred, Blanks, Not-uploaded, In-assessible docs, or Bad-pictures

*If you tabulate the clean 138K sheets:*

- APC: 7.1M > PDP: 5.6M > LP: 5.1M > NNPP: 1.0M > Others: 0.6M

- Total: 19.6 million votes

*The Gap*

- 24M total announced votes - 19.6M votes from clean sheets = 4.4 million votes in blurred votes.

- Those 4.4M votes live inside the 38K unclean sheets.

*The Core Problem*

1. We can not verify who those 4.4M votes went to. The sheets are missing / blurred / not uploaded at all.

2. 38K PUs is 21.6% of all polling units. And 4.4M votes is 18% of Total valid votes. That is too big to ignored.

3. INEC published enough data to show a winner from 138K PUs. But the unavailable data from 38K PUs can change the final outcome.

*The Conclusion*

Until INEC releases and tabulates those 38K sheets and adds them to the 138K, there is no independent way to verify the final 24M result they announced.

That’s it.

PRESS STATEMENT
Date: September 5, 2026

From: Office of the National Publicity Secretary, Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC

NDC REAFFIRMS PRESENCE IN ALL 28 STATES: WE HAVE GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATES FOR 2027

The Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC has been shocked to discover a false story and deliberate propaganda circulating in sections of the media and on social media claiming that the NDC does not have governorship candidates in 12 states ahead of the 2027 general elections.

We state categorically that this claim is false, malicious, a lie from the pit of hell, and intended to mislead Nigerians and undermine the growing momentum of the NDC nationwide.

For the avoidance of doubt, the NDC has duly nominated and has governorship candidates in all the 28 states where governorship elections will take place in 2027.

Our party is fully prepared, fully structured, and fully on ground in every state of the federation. The NDC is not a regional party. We are a national movement with candidates, structures, and supporters in all 36 states and the FCT.

To set the record straight, below are the NDC Governorship Candidates in the 12 states falsely listed in the propaganda:

A CALL TO THE MEDIA
We urge media houses, journalists, bloggers, and content creators to scrutinize their sources and verify information before publishing. Journalism thrives on truth, not rumors. Peddling unverified propaganda only erodes public trust in the media and in our democracy.

The NDC remains committed to issue-based politics. We will not be distracted by sponsored falsehoods.

CONCLUSION
Nigerians are tired of the old order. They are tired of recycled failures. The NDC is the preferred party to salvage Nigeria. With credible candidates, a clear manifesto, and a commitment to security, jobs, and accountability, we are ready to rescue and rebuild this nation in 2027.

We call on all Nigerians to join the movement. The rescue mission has started.

*MOVING FROM REALITY TO EXPERIENCE*

*ROMANS 4:16-17 (TPT)*
The promise depends on faith so that it can be experienced as a grace-gift ... This promise is ... to those who enter into the faith of Abraham.... That's what the Scripture means when it says: "I have made you the father of many nations." He is our example and father, for in God's presence, he believed that God can raise the dead and call into being things that don't even exist yet.

Your faith doesn't make God do anything for you. God has done all He wants to do for you because of Jesus (Rom. 8:32, 2Pet. 1:3). Your faith helps you receive what God has freely done or provided for you by His grace. This is how your salvation and everything you receive from God takes place. God saved you when Christ died for you, but you received your salvation when you heard and believed the Gospel of what God had already done in Christ (Eph. 2:5-8). It is not because Abraham believed God that God made him a father of many nations. When Abraham believed that God had already made him a father of many nations, that which was already his reality in God eventually became His experience.

The Bible says we have put on Christ (Gal. 3:27), and it also says we should put on Christ (Rom. 13:14). One is already our reality in the Spirit, and it becomes our experience as we believe and hold on to that reality by declaring it to ourselves. The Bible says we have the mind of Christ (1 Cor. 2:16), and it also says we should let the mind of Christ be in us (Phil. 2:5). As we accept the reality, it becomes our experience. If you believe it, you will become it. The way to walk by faith and not by sight is to believe and live by your reality in Christ and what God says about you (2Cor. 5:7). Like Abraham, hold onto it until it manifests and becomes your physical experience (Rom. 4:19-21).
