There is some striking connections in the showdown between 'Dagon' (the god of the Philistines) and the 'Ark of the Covenant' โrelative to the showdown that will exist in earth's final history as revealed in Revelation 13 & 14.
If you follow the story in 1st Samuel 5, you will realise three very prominent connections.

Dagon falls down twice. According to Revelation 18:2 Babylon also falls down twice.

Dagon's final fall is connected to the severing of its hands and head. According to Revelation 13 & 14, those who receive the mark of the beast will do so on their heads and on their hands.

The Philistines are visited with various plagues. In Revelation 16:2, those who do not have the seal of God ('The Creator') are visited with plagues.
I do not think these connections are circumstantial, I believe God in mercy, was giving us a typological warning through the history recorded in the Bible.
If you do a deeper research into who or what 'Dagon' represented and also the 'Ark of the Covenant', you will see this typology become more crystallised.
Dagon, as the chief Philistine god, was worshiped as the god of fertility and rain/agriculture/grain. Essentially, this meant that the power of creation and sustainance of human life was attributed to dagon by the Philistines.
On the other hand, the Ark of the Testament was the central theme of Israel's worship. Within the Ark was the 10 commandment, and within the 10 commandment, the 4th commandment acts as the 'Seal of God', attributing to Him alone the title โ'Creator of heaven and earth'.
In essence, the showdown between Dagon & the Ark, is a showdown that will continue to exist untill this world's final moment.
Just as Revelation highlights prophetically; some people will receive the Seal of God on their foreheads, they will honor the original 'Creation ordained Sabbath' as the true seal and mark of God's authority, and not the 'Saturday/Sunday' designed by the man of Rome, who to this day, adorns himself with the 'mitre' of Dagon.
Many people, knowingly & unknowingly have associated themselves with the broken head and hands of fallen dagon/babylon.

As for me and my house... We choose the Ark of the Covenant, the seal & laws of the Creator.
I hope you will take a thoughtful moment today and choose the 'Creator' of heaven and earth also, instead of relying on fallen dagon and fallen babylon.
