Stories men were never allowed to tell.

For generations, societal expectations have built walls of silence around men’s mental health. We are breaking those walls down.

Join us for "The Rooms We Survived", a live, virtual roundtable hosted by Equilibrium Initiative Nigeria in honour of Men's Mental Health Month.

Together, we will be navigating three distinct spaces of the male experience:

πŸšͺ The Room of Silence: Unpacking the heavy burden of hiding and emotional suppression.

πŸ›‘οΈ The Room of Survival: Honest conversations about overcoming stigma, rejection, and building resilience.

🌱 The Room of Becoming: Stepping into the light, embracing healing, vulnerability, and intentional choices.

Let’s move from surviving to becoming, together.

18 states. One coordinated push for dignity, safety, and justice. 🌍✨
Over three months, the Equilibrium Initiative Nigeria (EIN) team took on an unprecedented journey across 18 states in the Niger Delta and Middle Belt regions, including the FCT. We sat down with the institutions that shape policy and the communities that live with the consequences.

What we found was strikingly consistent. From the urgent need for safe emergency shelters to the rising demand for mental health support, one thing is clear: the rights and dignity of marginalised people are not negotiable.

We've mapped out the journey, the numbers, and the 4 critical findings that rose to the top.

πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ Pride is more than visibility. It is the right to exist safely.
As we celebrate Pride Month, we invite you to read our latest blog post: "Why Visibility Demands Protection: Pride in Nigeria."

Drawing from findings from our Beyond Fear: Safety & Insecurity Research, this piece explores the realities many young q***r Nigerians face, from violence and harassment to homelessness and limited access to support services.

The stories behind these numbers remind us that Pride is not only about being seen; it is about ensuring that every LGBTQ+ person can live with dignity, safety, and freedom.

June is Pride Month, and for EIN, it is a moment of celebration, but also one of reflection. In Nigeria, LGBTQI+ communities do not celebrate Pride from a place of safety. Pride is celebrated from a place of survival, resilience, and radical hope and yes, of joy too. Stubborn, relentless joy!
This month, we share their stories and the data behind them, because visibility without protection is not enough.

Celebrating
Pansexuality reminds us that the capacity to love and connect spans across all genders, beyond the binary, and into the core of who a person is.
We celebrate the diverse voices within our community and reject the erasure that often clouds this spectrum.
True visibility means recognising that love in all its vibrant forms is valid, powerful, and worthy of absolute respect.

Identity isn't a mould you have to fit into; it's a personal journey of self-determination.

Today on Agender Pride Day, we celebrate the beauty of living authentically, completely untethered by binary boxes.

We honour and amplify the voices of those who identify outside the conventional gender spectrum.
