Community Alert – Urgent Situation in Ughelli and Warri

Twenty-four hours ago, we received a distress message via our social media platform from someone seeking immediate help. The report said that several q***r men were being held at the Ughelli Area Command.

Preliminary information this morning suggests that some police officers in the Warri and Ughelli areas are conducting targeted searches for gay and bisexual men. This seems to have been triggered by the discovery of q***r-related content on an individual’s phone during a stop-and-search at the Ughelli Area Command. Such incidents are reportedly being used for extortion and blackmail.

Our team has been deployed to verify these claims and to find out how many people might be in detention if the reports are accurate.

In the meantime, we encourage all community members to stay alert and avoid answering calls from unknown numbers.
