Grand Opening Ceremony & Match Day 1 of the Mbiakpan Ikot Edim Inter-Family Sports Competition (MIEYISC) October 4, 2026

The 2026 grand opening of the Mbiakpan Ikot Edim Inter-Family Sports Competition (MIEYISC) kicked off successfully yesterday in an atmosphere of peace, unity, and celebration. The official proceedings commenced at about 4:01 PM with the procession of the participating teams. Rev. Fr. Jude Isuk, the Priest-in-Charge of Assumption Parish, Obio Ibiono, sanctified the occasion with an opening prayer and divine blessings.
The opening fixture between Nung Inyang and Nung Ama delivered thrilling competitive action. Nung Inyang secured a hard-fought 1–0 victory at the final whistle. During the first half, Mr. Idongesit Abak, popularly known as "DINO," found the back of the net for Nung Inyang, while another initial effort was disallowed, leaving Nung Ama with 0 goals.
SPECIAL ADDRESS BY THE YOUTH PRESIDENT:
Addressing the gathering after welcoming esteemed guests and invitees, the Chief Commander of the Youth Council Comr. Nsikan Edem, committed the tournament into God's hands. He urged all participating youths to maintain exemplary discipline, sportsmanship, and good conduct throughout the competition, while promising continuous innovations, youth empowerment, community development, and enriching experiences.
The event was graced by numerous esteemed dignitaries, community stakeholders, spectators, and media personnel. Due to unavoidable scheduling constraints, the primary sponsor was ably represented at the event by Engr. Patrick Andrew.
The Mbiakpan Ikot Edim Youth Association (MIEYIA) Executive, the 2026 organizing committee, and particularly the Sports Director, Comr. Ekpedeme Asuquo, extend their profound appreciation to the village leadership, spectators, media team, match commentators, the Master of Ceremonies (MC), and all sub-committees for their dedication to a successful opening day. Profound gratitude goes to Comr.
