NAUVO DECLARES SUPPORT FOR GOVERNOR UMO ENO AHEAD OF 2027 POLLS

… Reiterates commitment to partner the Ministry in service delivery

The National Association of Uniform Voluntary Organizations (NAUVO), an affiliate of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), has declared its support for the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, Ph.D., ahead of the 2027 general elections.

This declaration was made known during a courtesy visit to the Honourable Commissioner for Youth Development, Dr. Ekerette Ekanem, on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at his office in Uyo. The motion for endorsement was duly moved and seconded by members of the association, including the State Secretary, Ambassador Inemesit Ime Bassey.

In his address, the State Coordinator of NAUVO, Ambassador Idiongobong Ntokon, commended Governor Umo Eno for his visionary leadership and for creating a stand-alone Ministry of Youth Development, describing it as a bold step towards empowering Akwa Ibom youth. Also, he applauded the appointment of Dr. Ekerette Ekanem as the pioneer Commissioner, noting that his passion and commitment have revitalized youth engagement in the state.

Ambassador Ntokon reaffirmed NAUVO’s readiness to work closely with the Ministry in advancing the Governor’s ARISE Agenda, pledging the organization's cooperation in all youth-related programs and initiatives.

Furthermore, he disclosed the organization’s plan to collaborate with the Ministry of Education to establish Uniform Clubs in both primary and secondary schools across the state, a move aimed at instilling discipline, patriotism, and moral values among young people.

Meanwhile , appealed for financial support and office space to enhance the organization’s effectiveness and coordination across the state was made by the State Coordinator.

Responding, the Youth Development helmsman commended NAUVO for its discipline, orderliness, and clarity of purpose, describing the association as a key partner in youth development.

Dr. Ekanem assured the group that their resolution of passing a vote of confidence on Governor Umo Eno and their endorsement for the 2027 elections would be duly communicated. The Commissioner also expressed willingness to collaborate with NAUVO in implementing youth-centered programs of the Ministry as opportunities arise.

He charged the group to sensitize young people on voter registration and civic participation with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), maintain synergy with the National Youth Council, and serve as agents of intelligence and information gathering in support of the government’s development agenda.

The highlight of the visit was the decoration of the Commissioner as the NAUVO Grand Patron, alongside the presentation of an Award of Excellence, a Portrait, and the Association’s Uniform.

HON. MINISTER OF STATE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT TASK UNIFORM ORGANIZATION TO REVIVE ITS ACTVITIES IN SCHOOLS. The hon. Minister of state youth development charge voluntary uniform organizations to revive its activities in schools to promote morals and patriotic services amongst the youths and improve a better Nigeria tomorrow. He said this during the courtesy visit of Nauvo to his office on 10/1/24. In response, the National coordinator, Amb. Abraham Kwaghfan thanked the minister for his proactive response to nauvo letter and attention given Nauvo during the courtesy visit. He informed the hon. Minister that the most of uniform organizations are school base and are doing their best but no support form government. The minister requested a partnership letter from Nauvo to re- established school Base organizations in schools with program that will improve the lives of school children. He concluded the a date will be given for his decoration as the national patron of Nauvo.

On behalf of Ambassador Ayo Adekunle, National Coordinator, National Association of Uniform Voluntary Organizations (NAUVO) warmly welcome you to the month of September, a season of renewed hope, commitment, and positive action.

REPORT: NAUVO AKWA IBOM CHAPTER PAID A COURTESY VISIT TO THE NSCDC STATE COMMANDANT, AKWA IBOM STATE

On Thursday, 23rd January 2025, the Akwa Ibom State Executive of the National Association of Uniform Voluntary Organizations (NAUVO)Akwa Ibom Chapter paid a courtesy visit to the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Mr. Bashar Hussaini, at the Command Headquarters in Uyo.

The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss strategic partnerships between NAUVO and the NSCDC to promote national peace, security, and community development.

Key areas of collaboration include:

✔️ Security Awareness and Education – Joint efforts to educate the public on security and disaster management.

✔️ Youth Empowerment – Skills development, mentorship, and leadership training for young people.

✔️ Community Outreach – Programs to enhance social welfare, health, and education across local communities.

✔️ Training and Capacity Building – Specialized programs to build members’ expertise in disaster response, security, and service.

✔️ Advocacy – Pushing for policies that support national development and the interests of uniform voluntary organizations.

The Commandant commended NAUVO for its role in promoting responsible leadership and expressed the NSCDC's commitment to supporting initiatives that drive sustainable growth and development.

This visit marks the beginning of a stronger collaboration between both organizations to achieve shared goals for the benefit of Akwa Ibom State and the nation at large.
