International Day of Education: Strengthening Child Education for Nigeria’s Future
Uyo, Akwa Ibom State | 24 January
As Nigeria joins the global community to mark the International Day of Education, there is a renewed call to strengthen child education as a foundation for national development, social stability, and economic growth.
Ekemini Afangideh, CEO of the EmpowerHer Youth and Women Foundation (EYOWOF) and an International Teacher, emphasized that access to quality education for every Nigerian child remains critical in addressing poverty, unemployment, and social inequality.
“Education is the heartbeat of national progress. When Nigerian children are educated, empowered, and protected, we secure the future of our communities and our nation,” Afangideh stated.
EYOWOF continues to support initiatives that promote inclusive education, digital literacy, health education, and youth development, particularly for children in underserved and vulnerable communities. The foundation works with schools, community leaders, and partners to raise awareness and create opportunities for sustainable learning.
On this International Day of Education, EYOWOF calls on government institutions, educators, parents, faith-based organizations, and private stakeholders to strengthen collaboration and investment in child education across Nigeria.
“Every Nigerian child deserves a safe learning environment, skilled teachers, and access to modern educational tools. Education is not optional—it is essential,”
