As an advocate for innovative learning methods, I'm excited to share with you how Akan Ekpenyong, a seasoned Theater Arts practitioner and progenitor of AKWA IBOM YOUNG PROFESSIONALS INITIATIVE, is revolutionizing the way children learn in his academy. By adapting Creative Dramatics Techniques, Akan is teaching children all curricular subjects, leadership and morals in a fun, engaging, and interactive way!

So, what does a typical creative dramatic session look like? Imagine a classroom where children are encouraged to use their imagination, creativity, and critical thinking skills to learn complex concepts. Through role-playing, movement, and storytelling, children are able to grasp and retain information better. Akan's approach is not only effective but also enjoyable, making learning a positive experience for children.

I strongly believe that this method of learning should be introduced in early childhood education. By training teachers in primary schools on Creative Dramatics Techniques, we can unlock the full potential of our children. This is the secret behind the brilliant performances of the AKWA IBOM YOUNG PROFESSIONALS INITIATIVE, and I'm convinced that it can be replicated in schools across our state.

Let's join hands to advocate for a more creative and interactive approach to learning. Let's equip our teachers with the skills and knowledge they need to unleash the creativity and potential of our children. Together, we can create a brighter future for the next generation! "

In commemoration of Akwa Ibom at 38, the Akwa Ibom Young Professionals Initiative proudly staged a powerful performance on the theme: Unity: The Way Forward, Not Structure.

Our presentation was more than just art—it was a call to action, a reminder that true progress lies in standing together as one people, beyond divisions, beyond boundaries.

At 38, we celebrate not only our heritage and culture but also the strength of our unity. Together, we are building a future where every voice matters, every dream counts, and every hand joins to move Akwa Ibom forward.

AKWA IBOM YOUNG PROFESSIONALS INITIATIVE:: My Story

As I sit down to write this post, I'm filled with a mix of emotions - gratitude, humility, and fulfillment. My journey to becoming the founder of the Akwa Ibom Young Professionals Initiative is a story of passion, perseverance, and purpose.

Growing up, I had a childhood dream of becoming a popular musician. I was inspired by the likes of Victor Eshiet (The Mandators) the late Peterside Otong.Alfa Kuffa, and other great music Stars of that era. I struggled to make my dream a reality during my secondary school days, and after many attempts, I finally recorded a demo. But, life had other plans. My music career ended abruptly when my precious master tape got damaged beyond repair.

Fast forward to my university days, I gained admission to study Theatre Arts at the University of Uyo. It was there that I discovered my true passion - Creative Dramatics, also known as Children's Theatre or Theatre in Education. I was driven by a desire to help children who, like me, may not have had the support or resources to pursue their dreams.

After graduation, I faced another setback - no employment opportunities in the education sector. But, I didn't give up. In 2011, I started the Akwa Ibom Young Professionals Initiative with my daughter, Victory, who was a renowned kid musician by then. She was discovered and brought to the limelight by Her Excellency, Mrs. Ekaette Unoma Akpabio, the then First Lady of Akwa Ibom State.

Today, I'm proud to say that the initiative has recorded tremendous success stories. We've helped turn many children into responsible citizens, providing them with platforms to showcase their potentials. I'm grateful to His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, and his Deputy, Her Excellency, Senator (Dr.) Akon Eyakenyi, for their support and provision of a conducive learning environment for our children.

As I look back on my journey, I'm reminded of the importance of perseverance, passion, and purpose. I'm advocating for the introduction of Creative Dramatics into the basic education curriculum by the Ministry of Education and SUBEB. I believe that this will provide children with a more engaging and impactful learning experience.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story. I'm honored by the opportunity to contribute my little quarter to secure Akwa Ibom of the future, and I look forward to continuing to make a positive impact in the lives of our children.
