On behalf of Advocates of Peace, Nature and Gender Justice (APNAG), I celebrate today's Mother's Day/Mothering Sunday2026.

There are more themes for this year's celebration of Mother's Day which coincides with this year's Mothering Sunday!
They are:

•"Celebrating Resilience, Spiritual Leadership Impact of Mothers, Recognizing the "Everyday Magic" of Motherhood, and Honouring Mothers as Pillars of Strength";
•"Respect, Equality, and Recognition of Mother Within the Family";
•"Motherhood. Stewardship that shapes Generations. The Woman that Knows Her GOD"
(Daniel 11:32b), And "The Woman of Unlimited Grace".
•"A Crown of Glory".

According to "WorthyLifeMom", BEING A MOM IS 100 JOBS IN ONE." This shows how women, especially housewives, are often taken for granted and treated like unpaid servants.

Nobody really understands the mental strength of a woman need when it comes to being a Mom BECAUSE NOT ALL WOMEN WHO BEAR CHILDREN ARE MOTHERS. Her mind is never at rest because it is constantly running.

Sooo, WHO IS A MOTHER?

I will attempt to define a mother and seek assistance from other people's perceptions.

A mother is an awesome woman; A superwoman, who always believes in you no matter what! She is someone who does the work of others for free. She supports you, she is your back up any time, and a wingwoman for life.

A mother is the only person who carries you nine (9) months in her belly; 3 years in her arms and forever in her heart.

This amazing person is a housekeeper, an organizer, a planner, a taxi driver, teaches, cares, nurtures, who gives life, is strong, vibrant, versatile, loyal, dedicated, diverse,

According to Honoré de Balzac, "A mother's happiness is like a beacon, lighting up the future, but also reflected on the past in the guise of fond memories."

Globally, Mother's Day usually involves gift-giving as a token of Your Affection, cards, and family gatherings/a Picnic together, Give her a Spa Day at home, a Trip together, surprise her by making a Breakfast to Mark the occasion etc.

Once again, Happy Mother's Day & Mothering Sunday to ALL WORTHY MOTHERS GLOBALLY!

Since the Year 1933, the World Hearing Day (WHD) has been held globally, every year on March 3. This is especially so because in the midst of the Great Depression, Franklin D. Roosevelt was inaugurated as the 32nd U.S. President. History has it that he later led the country out of the Depression and to victory in WWII.

The theme of this year's celebration is, "FROM COMMUNITIES TO CLASSROOMS: Hearing Care For All Children"; While the Slogan is, "Don't Let Hearing Loss Limit You."

Hearing impairment is one of the disabilities plaguing humanity. The observance of this day provides us an opportunity to educate the public on how to prevent hearing loss and promote ear and hearing care. It is, therefore, incumbent on us to put in effort to raise awareness about hearing health.

This campaign highlights the importance of preventing avoidable childhood hearing loss and ensuring early identification and care for children with ear and hearing problems. We have to Act Now So No Child Is Left Behind Due To Ear or Hearing Problem.

On 3rd March 2025, Advocates of Peace, Nature and Gender Justice (APNAG), Barr. Ekaette Anwana, led her Team on Changing the Mindset of people on Ear and Hearing Impairment based on her real life experience, and also in partnership with Hon Aniedi Inyang of Aniedi Inyang Foundation (ANIF) who led her Team on Smart Agriculture, celebrated the first ever in Akwa Ibom State, at the Akwa Ibom State Special Secondary School, Uyo. The Event was well attended by Government Representatives and a cross-section of Stakeholders.

Among Activities carried out were,
(1) Hearing Health Discussions by the Executive Director, APNAG, Barr. Ekaette Anwana on the theme, "Changing Mindset And Empowering Yourself."
(2) FREE Ear Tests/Screening Services for school children, teachers, Guests and communities by invited Medical Doctors and Nurses.
(3) Safe Listening and Awareness.
(4) Distribution of Exercise Books and Biro Pens.
(5) Trusted Advice, Guidance and Counseling had its own Session

Though the Event was a huge success, APNAG could not provide FREE Hearing Aids or Solutions to those who had Waxes in their ears and other ailments, since the Activity was not Funded.

JUST NOTE TODAY THAT:

There are Seven (7) Degrees/Categories of Hearing Loss, thus:
Normal, Slight, Mild, Moderate, Moderately-Severe, Severe, and Profound.

The 4 P's of Hearing Loss Are: Painless, Progressive, Permanent, and Preventable.

There are 5 C's of Hearing Protection. These Are: Comfort, Compatibility, Convenience, Communication and Cost.

Today, Advocates of Peace, Nature and Gender Justice (APNAG) joins the global community in celebrating the International Day of Social Justice under the theme, "Empowering Inclusion: Bridging Gaps For Social Justice". This theme calls on governments, institutions, civil societies, and individuals to reaffirm their dedication to building societies that are fair, inclusive, and rooted in dignity for all.

As the saying goes, social justice is more than just an ideal; it is the foundation of sustainable development. It demands equal access to quality education, healthcare, decent work, and social protection. It requires us to confront gender inequality, stigmatization, discrimination, unemployment, poverty, human rights, social protection, and exclusion in all their forms.

Renewing our commitment means, moving beyond words to practicality, measurable action that improves lives — especially for those most marginalized and vulnerable.

As a not/for-profit/ non-governmental organization, APNAG recognizes that meaningful progress begins within communities. We are committed to strengthening partnerships, collaborations, amplifying underrepresented voices, and promoting policies that advance equity and opportunity. We believe that development must be people-centered, ensuring that no one is left behind.

On this day, we reaffirm our responsibility to advocate, to serve, and to act with integrity and compassion. A just society is built through shared responsibility and sustained effort. Together, therefore, let us promote social justice by creating systems that uphold human rights, expand opportunity, and foster inclusive growth for present and future generations.

Every year, the 13th day of February, set aside for the celebration of the International Condoms Day (ICD). This is to promote "triple protection" against HIV, Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), and Unplanned Pregnancies (UP). The theme for 2026 is, "JUST USE IT".

It target students, married couples. Condoms remain the most cost-effective tool for the triple protection and prevention for both genders; We now have female Condoms, too.
Condoms mitigate risks. Ensure you embrace Condom use without hesitation; Especially, on the Eve of the Valentine's Day Celebration on 14th February, 2026!!

The shelf life of Trojan condoms is 5 years from the date of manufacture.

Advocates of Peace, Nature and Gender Justice (APNAG), in collaboration with Kokomma Future Builders Inclusive Health Initiative (KoFiHi), visited Ibesikpo Commercial Secondary School (IBESCO) on 1st December 2025 to commemorate the 2025 16 Days of Activism. The team, led by Etido Akpan, engaged with students and teachers on the critical issue of GBV, its impact, and the legal framework that governs it, particularly the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law 2020.

The interactive session featured a presentation on the various forms of Gender-Based Violence (GBV)/Sexual Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), including r**e, sexual harassment, and domestic violence, as well as the consequences of such acts. The discussion highlighted the devastating effects of GBV on individuals, families, and communities, emphasizing the importance of creating a safe and supportive environment for all, including children. Vivian Chimma, Executive Director of Women Livelihood Empowerment Initiative (WOLEI), and Goodnews Eminue stressed the need for abstinence to avoid unwanted pregnancies and dropping out of school, and encouraged students to speak up when their rights are violated.

The program included a question and answer session, which allowed students and teachers to clarify their understanding of GBV and the VAPP Law. APNAG presented VAPP Laws, Training Manual, and the Unified Referral Pathway to the Vice Principal of IBESCO, which will serve as a valuable reference point for the school. The Vice Principal expressed appreciation for the visit and the resources provided, acknowledging the importance of addressing GBV in the school community.

Today, Advocates of Peace, Nature and Gender Justice (APNAG) join the world in celebrating World Peace Day, let us remember that peace is more than the absence of war—it is the presence of love, justice, forgiveness, and unity.

Peace begins in the heart of every individual and flows into our families, communities, and nations. Each smile we share, every word of kindness we speak, and every hand we extend in help is a seed of peace sown into the soil of humanity.

In a world often divided by differences, let us be the bridge that unites. Let us choose dialogue over violence, understanding over judgment, and compassion over hatred.

May this day remind us that true strength is not in fighting battles but in healing wounds, not in breaking apart but in building together.

Let’s rise as ambassadors of peace—because when peace reigns, hope flourishes, and the world becomes a brighter home for all.

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.” – Matthew 5:9

Happy World Peace Day! 🕊️🌿
From all of us@APNAG
