THINK OF WHAT YOU CAN ADD MORE THAN WHAT YOU CAN TAKE

There was a circulated photo of a vulture waiting for a starving Sudanese girl to die and feast on her during the 1993 famine in Sudan.

The photo was taken by Kevin Carter, a South African photojournalist who later won the Pulitzer Prize for this 'amazing' shot (edited and left out here because of its inhumane posture).

Kevin however lived just a few months to enjoy his supposed achievement because he later got depressed and took his own life!

He was savoring his feat and he was being celebrated on major news channels and networks worldwide for such an 'exceptional' photographic skill.

His depression started when, during one of the interviews he granted (a phone-in program), someone phoned in and asked him what happened to the child.

Kevin replied, "I didn't wait to find out after this shot as I had a flight to catch..."

And the person replied, "I put it to you that there were two vultures on that day; one had a camera."

His constant thought of that statement led to depression and his ultimate su***de.

So, are you too a vulture?

In whatever we do, we should let humanity come first before what we can gain out of the situation.

Kevin Carter could have been alive today and even be more celebrated if he had just picked that little girl up and taken her to the United Nations Feeding Center where she was attempting to reach.

In all we do, let us always think of others and how we can be of benefit to humanity.

How we can lend a helping hand and wipe tears?

And when we seek knowledge, wealth, or even elective office, let us think of how we can use it to benefit the people most.

A New You is possible.

A New Nigeria is possible.

THINK OF WHAT YOU CAN ADD MORE THAN WHAT YOU CAN TAKE

Last letter from Patrice Lumumba, First Prime minister of Congo (Born in 1925, Assassinated by Belgium and its Western allies in 1961) to his wife.

Letter from Thysville Prison to Mrs. Lumumba

My dear wife,

I am writing these words to you, not knowing whether they will ever reach you, or whether I shall be alive when you read them.

Throughout my struggle for the independence of our country I have never doubted the victory of our sacred cause, to which I and my comrades have dedicated all our lives.

But the only thing which we wanted for our country is the right to a worthy life, to dignity without pretence, to independence without restrictions.

This was never the desire of the Belgian colonialists and their Western allies, who received, direct or indirect, open or concealed, support from some highly placed officials of the United Nations, the body upon which we placed all our hope when we appealed to it for help.

They seduced some of our compatriots, bought others and did everything to distort the truth and smear our independence.

What I can say is this—alive or dead, free or in jail—it is not a question of me personally.

The main thing is the Congo, our unhappy people, whose independence is being trampled upon.

That is why they have shut us away in prison and why they keep us far away from the people. But my faith remains indestructible.

I know and feel deep in my heart that sooner or later my people will rid themselves of their internal and external enemies, that they will rise up as one in order to say 'No' to colonialism, to brazen, dying colonialism, in order to win their dignity in a clean land.

We are not alone. Africa, Asia, the free peoples and the peoples fighting for their freedom in all corners of the world will always be side by side with the millions of Congolese who will not give up the struggle while there is even one colonialist or colonialist mercenary in our country.

To my sons, whom I am leaving and whom, perhaps, I shall not see

This is where they sat in 1884(Berlin) and divided Akebulan (Africa) among themselves without inviting a single African. They destroyed our heritage and made us become beggars of foreign aid. The one time United Africa was destroyed and it becomes a shadow of herself. They loots away our riches and build their country with, they made us vulnerable, brought in the system of divide and rule so we will keep on fighting against each other while the continue looting our resources, they decided our leaders who will serve their interest not the interest of Africa. African youths the time is now, if we don't rewrite our history, no one will do that for us.

African Civil Wars

A Nation is "A large body of people united by common descent, history, culture, or language, inhabiting a particular country or territory". This definition doesn't matter to the Imperialists resulting to the death of millions of Africans

1. 🇸🇩 Sudan Civil War
Modern Sudan was birthed on 1 January 1956. Prior to that, the occupying forces, Britain and Egypt, merged Northern Sudan and Southern Sudan in 1946. The South wasn’t a party to the discussions.

Both regions were very different in culture and religion, and were previously governed separately. Yet in 1953 Britain and Egypt agreed to grant the monolithic Sudan independence.

By August 1955, four months before the ceremonial independence of 1956, civil war between soldiers from the South seeking regional autonomy and the central government in Khartoum begun. The war lasted for more than 16 years and over 2 million people died during the war.

2. 🇳🇬 Nigeria Civil War

Nigeria gained independence in 1960, seven years later the civil war also known as the Biafra War started, from 6 July 1967 to 15 January 1970.

All regions have different culture and religion, and were previously governed separately by their Monarch. Yet in 1960 Britain agreed to grant the monolithic Nigeria independence not considering their differences.

Some of the immediate causes of the war were the 15 January 1966 coup, counter coup in July 28 1966, and the subsequent mass murders of Easterners (mainly Igbos) in Northern Nigeria.

After the rejection of the Aburi Accord (Confederation) by Gen Gowon the Republic of Benin was first established in the then Mid-Western Nigeria now Edo and Delta, the republic was short-lived.

Meanwhile the Eastern Region leader Gen Ojukwu also established the Republic of Biafra which cause a war between the Eastern Region against the British and Nigeria and Over 2.5 million people died during the war.

This image is of 1945 During World War II.

A Japanese boy stood in front of a cremation pyre and waited for his turn to cremate his dead little brother.
Joe O’Donnell, The American photographer who clicked this picture said, that the child was biting his lips so hard to prevent crying that blood was dripping down the corner of his mouth.
When The guard asked, ′′Give me the load you carry on your back′′, the Child replied, IT IS NOT A CARGO, HE’S MY BROTHER′′.
In Japan even today, this image is used as a symbol of strength. So painful yet so inspiring.
