27th May is Children’s Day, and at Mkaaana Community Development and Empowerment Foundation we stand with a special group of children often overlooked , the refugee child.

Today we celebrate their resilience, their courage, and the hope they carry for tomorrow, even when life has placed them in difficult and unfair circumstances. We see their strength, and we honor their journey.

But celebration is not enough.

We raise our voices for their education, for their well-being, for their health, and for their mental health. Every child deserves safety, love, stability, and the chance to dream without fear.

At Mkaaana, we believe no child should go through pain because of crises. No child should be left behind because of where they were born or what they have experienced.

Let this Children’s Day be a reminder:
Protect the refugee child. Support them. Invest in them. Stand with them.

Mkaaana Community Development and Empowerment Foundation continues to advocate , because every child matters.

From Mbiatok to Etebi - World Menstrual Hygiene Day, 27 May 2026.

We continued our outreach journey with Mkaaana Community Development and Empowerment Foundation, reaching girls and women with knowledge, care, and dignity.

At Etebi, we trained girls and women on how to make home-use liquid soap, building skills that promote hygiene and self-reliance. Alongside the training, we distributed sanitary pads, toothbrushes, toothpaste, tissue papers, and liquid soap to support menstrual hygiene and daily personal care.

This outreach stands as a reminder that no girl should face shame, stigma, or silence because of her period. We stand with refugee girls and vulnerable girls in host communities to say NO to period stigmatization.

Every girl deserves dignity, support, and a healthy environment to thrive.

As we mark , this short drama reflects the silent struggles many refugee girls and vulnerable community girls face every day.

Lack of sanitary pads.
Stigmatization.
Poverty.
Shame.

No girl should miss school, lose confidence, or feel rejected because of her menstrual cycle.

At Mkaaana Community Development and Empowerment Foundation, we are raising our voices to say NO to every form of stigmatization and period poverty.

Menstruation is natural, not a curse.
Every girl deserves dignity, support, education, and access to menstrual hygiene products.

Together, let us break the silence, end the shame, and create a safe and supportive society for every girl.

WORLD MENSTRUAL HYGIENE DAY 2026 OUTREACH
Theme: “Ending Period Stigma: Dignity, Access, and Empowerment for Every Girl”

Mkaaana Community Development and Empowerment Foundation has officially begun its 2026 World Menstrual Hygiene Day outreach, reaching refugee and vulnerable girls across selected communities with dignity kits and menstrual health support.

The first outreach was successfully carried out at the DAC Skill Acquisition Center, Mbiatok.ao, where girls were supported with dignity kits to help them manage their menstrual health with confidence, safety, and without shame. This marks the beginning of a wider outreach journey for this year.

Our next stops include:
👉Esit Eket
👉 Etebi

This initiative is driven by a strong commitment to ensure that no girl is left behind because of her period. Menstruation is natural, and no girl should face stigma, isolation, or missed opportunities because of it.

At Mkaaana, we believe in a future where every girl has access to menstrual products, accurate information, and a supportive environment to thrive.

❤️We are not just distributing dignity kits.
❤️ We are restoring confidence.
❤️ We are breaking silence.
❤️We are building dignity for girls.

Together, we move toward a period-friendly world where every girl is safe, supported, and empowered.

Still on the activities marking World Menstrual Hygiene Week, we carried out a successful Liquid Soap Production Training for refugee girls and women at Etebi, Esit Eket.

The training was aimed at promoting proper hygiene practices while empowering women and girls with practical vocational skills. Participants were taught how to produce liquid soap for personal and household use, helping them maintain cleanliness and healthy living within their homes and communities.

The training was a great success as the refugee girls and women actively participated and successfully produced quality liquid soap during the practical session. Their enthusiasm, dedication, and willingness to learn were truly inspiring.

Beyond hygiene, this initiative also promotes self-reliance and economic empowerment. With this skill, many of the participants can begin small-scale production to support themselves and their families.

As we continue to mark World Menstrual Hygiene Day, we remain committed to promoting dignity, hygiene awareness, women empowerment, and sustainable community development.
