Happy First Anniversary!

Earlier this month, we celebrated our first anniversary of the launch of Rafiki AI.

When we launched last year, we couldn't have expected the scale and impact of the project within and outside Nigeria.

From the four walls of the classroom to refugee camps, we have received feedback from people using Rafiki AI to navigate their career pathway.

According to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OCED), they described career guidance as a lifelong process where students can gain insights into themselves and the world of work.

Over the years, our commitment has been that students who pass through our signature programs are equipped with effective skills to become 21st-century leaders.

However, based on our conversations with students living in rural and urban areas, we discovered that the concept of career guidance is a common problem in the educational sector.

As a result, we thought about the strategies we can take to ensure career guidance shouldn't be limited to a few but should be accessible to whoever needs it.

We redefined our approach to career empowerment by combining the Skill2Rural pedagogy with the rise of generative AI to create a platform that meets the needs of students in the ever-changing labour markets.

Earlier this year, we transitioned Rafiki AI to Rafiki X, an upgraded version of the career experience where users can access tailored career advice, interview preparation support and other benefits.

In the past year, we have seen the power of partnership at work as individuals have embodied the mission to ensure that everyone knows about Rafiki AI.

We want to use this medium to appreciate the entire team at KLCI, our partners and those who made these moments possible.

This isn’t the end but the beginning of something new. We are going to be working together to ensure that students are equipped to explore opportunities in their prospective careers.

Every year, we host the Skill2Rural Bootcamp in various locations across Nigeria.

Skill2Rural is a structured approach to training and equipping the next generation of young leaders with essential skills to make a difference in their generation.

By empowering them with the necessary resources, we are laying the foundation that they can build on to navigate the ever-changing workforce.

Despite rapid technological advancements, there are certain soft skills that every young leader must possess to stand out from their peers.

Rather than just teaching the Skill2Rural Participants, we are focused on understanding their approach to societal issues and how they can harness the soft skills to solve these issues.

Skill2Rural Bootcamp is not just a program, it is a commitment to the vision of equipping youths with an important skillset to scale their career growth.

Two months ago, we launched Rafiki X, the web-based version of Rafiki AI. This version gives you access to advanced features tailored to provide better insights into your career.

While Rafiki AI, the WhatsApp-based career platform, may feel more conversational, this new version is more structured to help you maximise opportunities in your career journey.

If you are struggling to create a career map, combining Rafiki AI and Rafiki X to navigate your professional journey is a great way to start.

We have received various feedback from users who have leveraged these platforms to generate structured career profiles, answer career questions, and receive presentation guidance.

Using the ISLP model, these platforms were designed to deliver personalised feedback to every user, regardless of their career stage.

As we celebrate two months, we are excited to share that we now have over 400 users across 16 countries. During this time, we have witnessed the impact of providing accessible and affordable career guidance.

As we reiterate, our goal is to give users the best possible experience in career support, because we believe career guidance should not be difficult.

The labour market is constantly changing, with new skills and experiences required across different industries.

Last year in April, we launched Africa’s first generative AI platform providing personalised career guidance.

We are excited to announce that we have launched Rafiki X, the web-based extension of Rafiki AI.

Nine months ago, we were preparing to launch the first-ever generative AI career advisor and counsellor for underserved and displaced young people.

Down the line, we have reached 9300+ users, exchanged 83,000 messages, and answered close to 40,000 career-related queries from users in more than 60 countries, with 90% coming from Nigeria.

During this time, we gathered feedback from our users and asked ourselves what we could do differently while ensuring our target audience is not left behind.

We worked with our team of experts to develop a web-based version of the product while leveraging analytics and generative AI.

The web-based version gives you access to advanced features, such as using your CV to provide tailored career guidance, prepare for interviews, and assist in telling your stories for job applications.

You can also assess the voice-to-text and upload documents for free. The free option gives you access to unlimited chats and a lot more.

However, to generate multiple stories, upload multiple documents and access unlimited voice uploads, you will need to pay a premium fee of $2 per month.

By paying this fee, you will enjoy personalised career benefits that will prepare you for the next stage in your life.

Apart from that, you will be paying it forward, ensuring that we keep the platform running on the web app and the WhatsApp platform.

This is not a movement from our mission of making career guidance accessible for underserved communities rather it shows our quest for sustainable impact.
