*WELCOME ADDRESS TO THE NIGERIAN FEMALE STUDENTS LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE*

Distinguished Colleagues, Fellow Nigerian Female Students, Esteemed Stakeholders and Leaders, Honored Dignitaries, and Other Alutarians.

It is with a deep sense of honor and responsibility that I, Ajiboye Hawawu address you in this Leadership Conference, which commemorates the International Women’s Day. As the National Vice President of National Female Students Association of Nigeria (NFSAN), I stand before you not merely as a leader, but as a representative of thousands of brilliant, and ambitious girl-child who are the mothering future of Nigeria.

Our chosen theme for this conference is “*Champion A Realistic Gender Equity*”, and it could not be more timely. In recent global attention, Female representation and Gender Balance has been a key concern which deserves to be addressed.

While there might be claims that women are given chances in some areas, is the *Representation a Reality* or just a *Paper Weight?*

*WHAT IS GENDR EQUITY?*
Gender equity, is defined as provision of fairness and justice in the distribution of benefits and responsibilities between women, men and all genders.” Gender equity is important because, historically, societies around the world have deemed females and nonbinary people as “weaker” or less important than males.

Gender equity means respecting all people without discrimination, regardless of their gender. It also means addressing gender inequalities that limit a person’s ability to access opportunities to achieve better health, education and economic opportunity based on their gender.

As students , our duty is not just to learn in the classroom but to question, to imagine, to improvise and foster logical solutions. In Nigeria, where our communities face challenges, women and children has always been the major victims ranging from R**e, Gender Mutilation, Unwanted Pregnancy, Unfair Tradition and Religion, More Out of School Girls due to Crises, Gender Discrimination, Victimization and Lot More.

In this century, there is need to orientate our community on gender support and the first step begins in the classroom *LIBERATION*, Family *ORIENTATION* and grassroots *ADVOCACY*.

*HOW TO CHAMPION A REALISTIC GENDER EQUITY*

One way to promote gender equity is to celebrate strong women in all aspects of life. History bears a long list of intelligent and powerful women who have broken barriers and changed the future for women everywhere.
We can emulate from few examples we have around us, Discuss gender equality with family members and children, Promote economic empowerment, Increase women's leadership and representation, Enforce legal and policy reforms, Talk to Men, and use of technology.
Laws and policies that ensure equal rights and opportunities for all genders can significantly reduce discrimination and promote fairness. For instance, gender quotas in political representation have proven successful in increasing the number of women in decision-making positions.

In the spirit of togetherness, let us all promote the spirit of Equity and take responsibilities to care for one another and share with one another because a United force can not be dismantled. Every individual must be prepared to take charge in their respective dockets.

Fellow Alutarians, It would be ungrateful not to acknowledge the sacrifices you've made to make this day a possible. I want to assure you that NFSAN as a point of contact will be the government of the Nigerian Female Students, stand by the Nigerian Female Students and be for the Nigerian Female Students.
The energy, the faith, the devotion, the commitment which we shall bring to this endeavour shall light NFSAN and all who serve it.

Thank you all!
Long Live NFSAN!
Long Live The Federal Republic of Nigeria!

Yours in advocacy,
Ajiboye Hawawu. O

28th March, 2026.

NFSAN FROWNS AT THE GRUESOME MURDER OF LEBABATU, CALLS FOR IMMEDIATE INVESTIGATION.

The National Female Students Association of Nigeria (NFSAN) expresses deep shock, outrage, and sadness over the gruesome and unfortunate murder of a young lady identified as Lebabatu, whose lifeless body was reportedly discovered yesterday in Gauraka, Tafa Local Government Area of Niger State.

This barbaric and inhumane act is not only a direct attack on the dignity and safety of women and girls in our society, but also a painful reminder of the growing insecurity and violence faced by vulnerable citizens across the country. We strongly condemn this heinous crime in its entirety and call on all well-meaning Nigerians to rise in unison against such acts of brutality.

NFSAN stands in solidarity with the family, friends, and loved ones of the deceased during this difficult time. We share in their grief and pray for the repose of her soul while seeking justice on her behalf.

We hereby call on the Nigeria Police Force and all relevant security agencies to immediately launch a thorough, transparent, and uncompromising investigation into this tragic incident. The perpetrators of this evil act must be identified, apprehended, and brought to justice without delay. Justice must not only be done but must be seen to be done, in order to restore public confidence and serve as a deterrent to others.

Furthermore, we urge the government at all levels to intensify efforts in ensuring the safety and protection of women and girls, particularly in communities where such vulnerabilities are prevalent. Preventive measures, awareness campaigns, and strengthened community policing must be prioritized.

The National Female Students Association of Nigeria remains committed to advocating for the rights, safety, and protection of female students and all Nigerian women. We will not relent in speaking against violence and demanding accountability wherever injustice occurs.

Enough is enough.
The lives of Nigerian women matter.

Kofo Akinkugbe is a Nigerian tech entrepreneur and founder of SecureID, Africa's leading manufacturer of smart cards and other identity documents. Born and raised in Nigeria, Kofo grew up in a family with many siblings and was taught the values of hard work, discipline, and honesty by her hands-on father

Kofo's educational background is impressive - she studied mathematics at the University of Lagos, where she was a prize-winning student, and later earned an MBA from the University of Strathclyde in Scotland on a Chevening Scholarship

Before becoming an entrepreneur, Kofo worked in the banking industry for 12 years, starting with International Merchant Bank, a Nigerian affiliate of the First National Bank of Chicago, and later working for Chartered Bank

Kofo's entrepreneurial journey began in 1998 when she founded Interface Technologies Limited, a security management and biometrics company, which she ran from her home with one staff member. The company grew over nine years, employing dozens and carving a niche in security management technologies

In 2005, Kofo established SecureID Limited, which became the first VISA-certified smart-card production facility in Sub-Saharan Africa. She later inaugurated SecureCard Manufacturing in 2012, housing West Africa's only polycarbonate smart-card plant and one of only six on the continent

Kofo's achievements have earned her recognition, including the Africa Awards for Entrepreneurship Mature Business Award in 2012 and the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) national award in 2022.

*OFFICE OF THE NATIONAL VICE PRESIDENT*

*OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE*

*CONDEMNATION OF VIOLENCE AND HARASSMENT AGAINST WOMEN AT OZORO FESTIVAL, DELTA STATE*

We strongly condemn the disturbing reports emerging from the Ozoro Festival in Delta State, where women and girls were subjected to harassment, intimidation, and acts of violence under the guise of cultural celebration.

No culture, tradition, or festival should serve as a platform for the violation of the dignity, safety, and rights of women. The reported acts of groping, assault, and coordinated harassment are not only inhumane but a gross abuse of societal values that must be upheld at all times.

A culture that threatens the safety of women and girls should not stand.

We call on the Federal Government, Delta State Government, and all relevant security agencies to take immediate and decisive action to investigate these incidents and ensure that perpetrators are identified and brought to justice. Silence or inaction only emboldens further abuse.

We also urge community leaders and festival organizers to take responsibility by putting in place strict measures that guarantee the safety and protection of all participants, especially women and girls. Cultural heritage must evolve to reflect respect, dignity, and human rights.

Women and girls deserve to live, move, and participate in society without fear of violence or harassment.

We stand in solidarity with all victims and reaffirm our unwavering commitment to advocating for a peaceful, safe, and just society for all.

Signed:
Comrade OYELEYE Goodness
National Vice President,
NFSAN
