YMCA YMCA of Abeokuta is a Christian community service organisation delivering Christ inspired community service through young people in and around Abeokuta.

YMCA (Young Men’s Christian Association) is an international organisation and is one of the oldest and largest Movements for youth in the world. Founded in 1844, it now operates in 119 countries, and reaching 58 million people. The YMCA works to bring social justice and peace to young people and their communities, regardless of religion, race, gender or culture. YMCA is essentially a service organ

isation. The big difference is the “C” in our name which means that unlike others, we give out the service of Christ. The service is Christ is delivered into our communities through young people like us. YMCA therefore aspires to develop young people for the holistic transformation of their communities, nation and the continent
The YMCA addresses issues affecting each community by developing programs and activities with special focus on young people in order to build a “human community of justice with love, peace and reconciliation for the fullness of life for all creation.”

Abeokuta is the largest city and state capital of Ogun State in southwest Nigeria. It is situated on the east bank of the Ogun River, near a group of rocky outcrops in a wooded savanna;] 77 kilometres (48 mi) north of Lagos by railway, or 130 kilometres (81 mi) by water. As of 2005, Abeokuta and the surrounding area had a population of 593,140.
