This picture from an ongoing erosion control project in Abia State shows what can go right when elected officials are invested in the progress of society.

Consider the landlord of the house on the left and the street that was entirely cut off on the right. Now, tenants can return to that house, cars can pass through the street, and small businesses selling household items, fried yam, potatoes, and bread will open, supporting the local economy.

Furthermore, the government can generate more revenue through taxes, and the people in this neighbourhood will be willing to pay their fair share because they see how the money is being utilised.

We need to move away from worshipping politicians and start holding them accountable. You cannot be called "His Excellency" if you have not done anything excellent for your state.
