UDE OKO CHUKWU HAS MOVED ON, DEAL WITH IT!!!... By Ugochukwu Nwankwo

Since yesterday that the amiable and immediate past Deputy Governor of Abia State, the Rt Hon Sir Ude Oko Chukwu was warmly received into Labour Party by the Governor of Abia state Dr Alex Otti OFR, I have watched with utter consternation, vermins and cretins open their fangs to comment on what they know little or nothing about!

Some have called him a betrayer, others said he has no occupation other than politics, some also said he did nothing for Ohafia people all these years, whereas others faulted the fact that he supported Dr Alex Otti in 2023 general election.

First i want to speak to those who do not know the man Ude Oko Chukwu.

We all know that facebook and our Chinese brothers have made sure everyone has an android phone, and the phones made it possible for everyone to sit in one obscure corner of the earth and insult those they couldn't ordinary meet anywhere till apocalypse.

Before Ude Oko Chukwu came down to run for House of Assembly, he was already an established chartered accountant with his own registered Accounting firm in Lagos, doing very well and very comfortable, we are talking before 2003. So he has never been a loafer or 'low-lifer' anytime, till date.

I also want to agree that politics is neither a career nor a vocation rather a call to service and in that regard, Rt Hon Sir Ude Oko Chukwu represents what a good politician should be both in service, growth, ambience and carriage, always seeking to move up at every stage of his political life!

As a legislator he rose to the highest rank of the speaker and left when the Ovation was loudest.

When he was drafted to become the Deputy Governor of Abia State, he was not the only politician in Abia North.

But those who sat and crafted the trajectory of power in 2015, sat down and carefully sought after a man, who can stoop to Deputize someone who once called him Boss, without reminding him of the past, A Man whose loyalty was concrete and given!

A man who will spend his own resources to enthrone another man so long as it to the best interest of the political family he belongs. Recall that as at 2015, Okezie Ikpeazu was Deputy General Manager ASEPA, in charge of Aba zone, Iyke Apugo was GM, whereas Ude Oko Chukwu was Speaker for 4 years and Okezie became his Boss and for the 8 years he served as Deputy, he never complained to anyone till date and you will not hear anything from him till tomorrow. That is the kind of person he is.

Silent but smooth!

While he served as Deputy Governor, towards the end of the career of his Boss and as a politician who is always looking upward, in order to create room and space for the younger generation he picked the gauntlet to vie for the Governorship of the state.

Everyone in the state, knew what happened and how different rotational patterns were manufactured just to ensure that power never rightfully returned to Abia North, and everyone also knew that if a free and fair primaries was conducted as at then, Ude Oko Chukwu would have clinched the party's ticket.

So those who wanted to play God had their way, arm twisted everyone and did Umunneato Project, denied not just Ude Oko Chukwu, but every person who they saw as not being loyal, the party ticket. That was the beginning of the travails of PDP and the rest is history!

For those who are saying Ude Oko Chukwu did nothing as a House member and Deputy Governor, i challenge them to show me what house members before and after him did that he did not do.

What can a house of Assembly member actually do? We still have them today, Ndi Aba should tell us what the current speaker Emeruwa has done for them.

These are legislators whose primary assignments are Law making, representation and oversighting. The best they can achieve depends on the mercy of the Governors who can decide to site one project or the other in their constituencies.

Before Ude Oko Chukwu became Deputy Govenor, there were other Deputy Governors.

Can Ndi Obingwa please list the projects of both Senator Abaribe and Hon Acho Nwakanma as Deputy Governors!

Ndi Ugwunagbo should also come with their list of Nna anyi Ananaba's projects.

Therefore as Deputy Governor, one should first of all ask, what is the scorecard of his Boss, the Governor in the entire Abia North for 8 years?

Let us assume that Ude Oko was not Deputy, what are the projects Governor Ikpeazu executed in Abia North, being an integral part of the state, throughout his tenure?

We have to realize that until a politician finds himself where he wields real Executive Powers and controls tangible funds, you cannot really assess him or her and his capacity cannot be properly measured.

Congratulations Nkuma Ala Iyi, those who expected you to still work for PDP and deliver their candidates after they felt the party belong to them are hypocrites who cannot condone or tolerate a quarter of what you tolerated and still remained calm.

I have no advise for you sir, for i know you have your aces up your sleeves already.

I also thank God you already know that some people do not like your face and we know why, but as long as power continues to reside with the people, no cause for alarm!

Let those who want to continue whining continue while you move to the next phase!

O ji Ofo Ga Ala!!!

Enugu Deputy Governor Applauds Otti’s Governance: A Lesson for Abia’s Critics

By Chidi Nnamani

August 21, 2025

The Deputy Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency Mr. Ifeanyi Ossai, has lavished praise on Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, describing his style of leadership as transformative and inspiring not only to Abians but to Nigerians across board.

Speaking during a recent event, Ossai recalled how Abia once presented a depressing picture whenever travelers passed through. “Each time I visited Umuahia in the past, it was always heartbreaking—the potholes, the stench, the neglect,” he remarked. “But what I met this time shocked me. The roads are smooth, the filth is gone, and the capital city has a refreshing feel. On behalf of the Igbo people and Nigerians at large, we say thank you for making us proud.”

Ossai’s words echo what many neutral observers have admitted—Abia, after decades of poor governance, is finally experiencing tangible reforms under Governor Otti. From infrastructure to fiscal discipline, his administration has been rewriting the state’s story in less than two years.

The Deputy Governor also hinted at a subtle but important reality: comparisons between Enugu and Abia are misplaced. While Enugu has enjoyed years of relative stability and consistent leadership, Abia, he noted, had long suffered the weight of misrule that stifled growth. To expect both states to look the same within such a short timeline is, in his words, “neither fair nor intellectually sound.”

The statement also comes as a rebuke to some critics, particularly figures like former Abia Commissioner of Finance, Obinna Oriaku, who have made a habit of discrediting Otti’s efforts by drawing contrasts with Enugu.

Political analysts argue that Ossai’s endorsement carries more weight than the criticisms of individuals linked to Abia’s troubled past. Unlike those who allegedly mismanaged resources—including the infamous Paris Club refund—Ossai represents a progressive

Former Deputy Governor Ude Oko Set to Join Labour Party in Abia

Abia State politics is bracing for a new twist as Ude Oko, the immediate past Deputy Governor of Abia State, prepares to formally join the Labour Party on Saturday, August 23, 2025. His defection is already generating conversations across political circles, not only for its timing but also for what it signals about the growing influence of the Labour Party in the Southeast.

Oko’s decision comes after a series of notable engagements with the leadership of the state. In a recent meeting with Governor Alex Chioma Otti, the former deputy governor openly praised the administration’s achievements, describing the governor as “the light Abia has never had.” The statement, widely shared across media platforms, has been interpreted as both an endorsement of Otti’s governance and a subtle indication of Oko’s future political alignment.

Following his visit to the governor, Oko also paid a courtesy call on the Deputy Governor, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, further underscoring his rapprochement with the Labour Party leadership.

A Political Boost for Labour Party

Analysts believe Oko’s move will not be an ordinary defection. As a former deputy governor with extensive grassroots connections, his entry into Labour is seen as a strategic gain that could expand the party’s influence across Abia and beyond. “It’s not just about numbers,” a political commentator in Umuahia noted. “Oko brings credibility, experience, and a network of loyal supporters that could reshape Labour’s fortunes in coming elections.”

The Labour Party, which currently governs Abia under Otti’s administration, has been steadily consolidating its position as a formidable political force. Oko’s defection appears to validate the party’s rising profile and reflects the growing confidence many political stakeholders have in its leadership style.

Significance for Abia’s Political Future

Beyond partisan politics, Oko’s move is being interpreted by many as a symbolic call for unity. His praise of Governor Otti’s reforms highlights the administration’s growing reputation for transparency, accountability, and development-focused governance — qualities Abians have long desired.

For residents, the development raises fresh hope. “We’ve not seen this kind of political alignment in years,” said Chika Nwosu, a civil servant in Aba. “If leaders like Oko are willing to rally behind Otti, it means Abia may finally be on the path to real progress.”

As the countdown to August 23 continues, anticipation is high. For Ude Oko, joining Labour is more than a personal political recalibration — it may well be the start of a broader movement to consolidate a new era of leadership in Abia State.

ABIA: Otti Warns Against Corrupt Leaders in Town Unions, Approves Land for Secretariat

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has urged community development unions to prioritize integrity in leadership, insisting that individuals of questionable character should never be allowed to head town unions.

Speaking at Government House, Umuahia, during a meeting with the Abia State Association of Igbo Town Unions led by its President General, Chief George Mgbeorurukwe, Otti condemned the practice of allowing “thieves, drug dealers, and fraudsters” to occupy sensitive positions.

“If a leader is corrupt, he influences others negatively. Communities must return to the values our parents upheld—where only credible and respected individuals were trusted with leadership,” the Governor stated.

Otti emphasized the role of town unions in maintaining peace and security, urging them to share intelligence with government and security agencies to curb drug abuse, cultism, and crime in rural areas.

He also granted the union’s request for land to build a permanent secretariat, directing the Commissioners for Lands, Arts and Culture, and Local Government Affairs to facilitate the allocation and strengthen engagement with town unions.

Chief Mgbeorurukwe, in his remarks, praised Governor Otti for restoring dignity to Abia State and pledged the union’s support for his administration, describing his leadership as “an answered prayer.”
