*THE POLITICAL DISCOURSE OF EQUITY* *AND THE 2027 DELTA CENTRAL SENATORIAL* *SLOT*

Nigeria’s political landscape shows that consensual, unwritten power-sharing arrangements often carry more weight than constitutional provisions. Where such agreements are respected, equity and fairness thrive; where they are violated, political instability and setbacks often follow.

In Delta Central, the 2027 Senatorial slot rotation is the key issue. The Ethiope Federal Constituency, through James Ibori’s leadership, has set a development standard yet to be matched, with Oghara comparable to an imperial city. Conversely, the Okpe, Sapele, and Uvwie Federal Constituency currently holds both the gubernatorial and senatorial seats, including a Federal Ministerial position —a first since 1992.

It is therefore morally right, logical, and rational to cede the 2027 Delta Central Senatorial slot to the Ughelli North, Ughelli South, and Udu Federal Constituency, known as U3 irrespective of party lines.This area remains the most neglected and underdeveloped part of Urhobo land despite abundant resources.

This decision was reached by consensus across all 8 Local Government Areas of Delta Central Senatorial District:

- Ethiope West LGA
- Okpe LGA
- Sapele LGA
- Uvwie LGA
- Udu LGA
- Ughelli North LGA
- Ughelli South LGA

The process was peaceful, free, and fair.

I thank the Urhobo nation for your trust and for choosing me as your preferred candidate. I will not take this mandate lightly.

To everyone in Delta Central: get your PVC ready. Together, we will vote ADC and deliver the representation our people deserve.

*NIGERIA DEMOCRACY* *AND THE FIRST LINE OF* *DEFENCE*

In a democracy, ultimate power belongs to the people through their right to not only vote but to ensure that their votes translate into the election of their preferred candidates as leaders. The ability to freely elect and swear in the most popular contestant is the true guarantee of the people’s future and that of future generations.

Issues like corruption, good governance, accountability, and economic development are secondary; without credible elections, they remain unattainable. A culture of credible elections is the foundation that makes it possible to hold leaders accountable and remove bad ones even before their tenure ends.

Therefore, ensuring that votes count must be a national priority across Nigeria, transcending party, regional, and professional lines. This struggle demands the same vigour and sacrifice Nigerians showed in the fight against military rule, when many lost their lives, endured imprisonment, injury, or exile. If reclaiming the people’s power requires similar effort, it must be pursued with equal resolve to secure the democracy that was earned through collective sacrifice.

*REAFFIRMING MY COMMITMENT TO THE ADC AND MY SENATORIAL ASPIRATION*

My good people of Delta Central Senatorial District. I address you today to clear any doubts about my political stand. I remain a proud member of the African Democratic Congress, ADC.

Following wide consultations with party leaders and my supporters, I hereby reaffirm my membership and full commitment to our party ideals of integrity, accountability, and service.

Let me state clearly: I am still contesting as the Senatorial aspirant for Delta Central Senatorial District under the ADC. Indeed, present political occurrences call for various realignments and considerations, but I believe the ADC remains the best platform to deliver credible representation to our people.
