Happy Workers' Day to the dedicated hands and compassionate hearts that fuel our mission! Today, we celebrate the dignity of labor, but for us at Mai Yaki Initiative, work is more than just a job—it is our commitment to turning "Compassion into Action."

As we welcome the new month of May, we are reminded that our work is vital, continuous, and deeply purposeful. We are looking forward to a month of impact as we prepare to champion key causes that define our vision for a better society:
Children’s Day (May 27): We believe that every child deserves a life filled with safety, quality education, and boundless joy. We work tirelessly to protect their future.

Menstrual Hygiene Day (May 28): Statistics show that 1 in 10 girls in Africa misses school due to periods. We are actively working to change this narrative because a period should end a sentence, not a girl's education.

Democracy Day (May 29): We advocate for the power of participation—your voice and your vote are the tools that build the future of our nation.
Today and every day, we honor all workers who contribute to the growth of our communities. Thank you for walking this path with us as we strive to create lasting change.

Theme: Walking Through the EFCC/SCUML Regulations for Supervision of At-Risk Non-Profit Organisations (NPOs)

The Coalition of CSOs in Sokoto State, under the leadership of Bello Shehu Gwadabawa, in collaboration with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Sokoto Zonal Command, successfully organised a sensitisation workshop facilitated by the Special Control Unit Against Money Laundering (SCUML).

The workshop was designed to strengthen the capacity of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and Non-Profit Organisations (NPOs) on regulatory compliance, financial transparency, and accountability, particularly in line with EFCC/SCUML requirements.

Participants were guided through critical aspects of the regulatory framework, with practical insights on compliance obligations, risk management, and safeguarding organisational operations from financial crimes. Special attention was given to organisations operating in high-risk and insurgency-
