In February this year, I was watching Gaius Chibueze teaching people about Bitcoin.
I have known about Bitcoin for years, but honestly, I never really understood it. I know I could reach out to Gaius privately because he is a very humble person and always willing to educate and help people.
But this time, I told myself, let me actually listen to this man and try it myself.
With the help of ChatGPT, I downloaded a Bitcoin app, created my BTC wallet and bought $100 worth of Bitcoin through the Blord app.
I got my recovery phrase, saved it properly and left it there.
Last week, I remembered the Bitcoin and decided to check how much it was worth.
My $100 investment was now worth about $117.
I just smiled. 😂
It's not a huge amount of money, but for me, it means something much bigger.
I finally understood what it means to actually buy Bitcoin, keep it in my own wallet and secure my recovery phrase.
And honestly, I keep thinking about 2016.
Back then, a friend I met in Turkey told me about Bitcoin and encouraged me to invest. But because of the language barrier, I didn't really understand what he was trying to explain to me.
I had nobody around me who could properly teach me.
At that time, Bitcoin was still below $1,000.
Today, one Bitcoin is worth tens of thousands of dollars.
Sometimes I look back and say:
“Obinna, if only you had understood what that guy was telling you in 2016.” 😂
But there is no point crying over what I didn't know then.
What matters is that I am learning now.
I am not a financial expert, and I am not telling anybody to put their money into Bitcoin. Bitcoin can go up and down, and nobody knows what it will be worth 10 or 20 years from now.
But I have made up my mind to learn more about it and gradually build my own Bitcoin investment.
By God's grace, I want to invest at least $1,000 next year, and hopefully continue doing the same in subsequent years as my finances allow.
And this is why I really appreciate Gaius Chibueze.
You may be teaching something online and think only a few people are listening, but somebody somewhere could be watching, learning and changing the way they think about money.
That $17 gain may not mean much to some people.
But to me, the knowledge I gained from that $100 is worth much more than the $17 profit.
At least, I have finally started.
And who knows what that little beginning will mean for me 10 or 20 years from now?
Thank you, Gaius. ₿❤️
