When teachers become learners, classrooms come alive.

At Education Without Borders 2025, we placed Activity-Based Learning (ABL) at the heart of our training because every child deserves more than chalk and talk. They deserve curiosity, creativity, and connection.

Over two days, Mr. Hope Emihian led dynamic, hands-on sessions on how to bring lessons to life even in low-tech, resource-constrained classrooms. From using bottle caps for counting to drawing facial expressions and group storytelling exercises that ignite imagination, teachers explored practical tools to make learning visible, playful, and learner-centered.

Together, we reimagined what teaching can look like when local materials meet innovative methods, and when teachers are equipped to teach with what they have, not just what they wish they had.

Because when learning is active, children don’t just memorize they understand. And that’s where real change begins.

In underserved communities across Nigeria, access to quality education is not just a challenge. It's a crisis. But in Delta State, something transformative is unfolding.

Through our initiative, Education Without Borders (EWB), we are redefining what’s possible for rural education. Our mission is clear: to break down systemic, geographic, and socioeconomic barriers that have held learners and educators back for far too long.

Why Delta?

Delta State represents both the urgency and the opportunity of this work.

In recent weeks, we’ve scaled our impact in Delta by partnering with local education authorities, community leaders, and schools to deliver targeted, high-impact interventions. These include:

Capacity building workshops for teachers, focusing on inclusive pedagogy, learner-centered approaches, and low-cost teaching aids

Monitoring tools that track learning outcomes, not just attendance

What We’re Learning?

Scaling impact isn’t just about replicating a model, it’s about adapting to context. What works in one LGA may not in another

That's why we prioritize listening, collaboration, and local leadership at every step. Our approach is data-informed, equity-driven, and deeply community-rooted.

We’ve seen that when teachers are empowered, when schools are supported, and when communities are involved, learning improves.

At EWB 2025, we didn’t just talk about the challenges of rural education, we equipped teachers and school leaders with the tools to innovate using what they already have. Our incredible trainers brought that vision to life, showing over 200 educators in Sapele how to turn chalkboards and open minds into the most powerful learning tools.

Here is how they created change!

Day 1:
Foundations of Activity-Based Learning (ABL) in Low-Tech Schools
Trainer: Mr. Hope Emihian

Mr. Emihian introduced the ABL model with a focus on practical, student-centered techniques that can be implemented in classrooms without tech. His session challenged educators to rethink how learning can happen using locally available materials.

AI, EdTech & The Future of Learning
Trainer: Mr. Sylvester Ebhonu Sylvester Ebhonu

Mr. Ebhonu helped participants reimagine what’s possible with tech, even in low-tech schools. From understanding AI basics to exploring scalable EdTech solutions, this session offered a future-forward look at education.

DAY 2
Designing Low-Tech ABL Lessons
Trainer: Mr. Hope Emihian

This hands-on workshop gave teachers the space to build real lesson plans using ABL principles. Mr. Emihian guided teams through structuring activities that promote critical thinking, creativity, and student ownership.

Leading Change: School-Wide Integration of ABL with Minimal Tech
Trainer: Mr. Hope Emihian
Educators can't do it alone. In this session, school heads and decision-makers explored how to embed ABL practices across entire schools, even with limited infrastructure using leadership, community buy-in, and consistent mentorship.

Educators as Mentors
Trainer: Mr. Caesar Okoroleju

More than subject experts, teachers are role models. Mr. Okoroleju’s session reminded participants of the power of mentorship in shaping learner confidence, aspiration, and life trajectories—especially in rural contexts.

These weren’t just sessions, they we they were a launchpad for new teaching and long-term impact.

To our phenomenal trainers: thank you for sharing your expertise and igniting change where it matters most.

Last week, something remarkable happened in Sapele LGA, Delta State.

We had the incredible honor of bringing together over 200 passionate teachers, forward-thinking policymakers, and dedicated education leaders for the "Education Without Borders 2025”
This wasn’t just another event. It was a movement in motion.

A movement to reimagine what’s possible for rural education. A movement rooted in the belief that where a child lives should never determine the quality of education they receive.
From thought-provoking keynote sessions to immersive, hands-on workshops, and powerful breakout discussions, the atmosphere was charged with ideas, insights, and a shared urgency to transform education in hard-to-reach communities.

🌍 We saw collaboration in action.
📚 We witnessed renewed hope.
🤝 We built bridges across sectors, communities, and classrooms.

This event marks the beginning of what we believe will be a lasting transformation in the education sector in Sapele and eventually, beyond.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the TY Danjuma Foundation for their unwavering support and belief in this vision.

Their partnership has been instrumental in turning ideas into impact, and in amplifying our reach to those who need it most.

To the amazing facilitators, the educators who showed up with open hearts and minds, and every individual who contributed to the success of this program. We say thank you.

The energy, the unity, the shared purpose, it was all captured in this moment.

We left this event more inspired than ever to push forward and continue dismantling the barriers that keep children from accessing quality learning.

This is just the beginning. Stay tuned for more photos, stories, and powerful moments from the field in the coming days.

It's Day 2 and the grand finale of a transformative experience for over 200 teachers, policymakers, and education leaders gathered in Sapele, Delta State.

We are reimagining education for a rapidly changing world and we are laying the foundation for sustainable change in classrooms across the region.

Yesterday, participants engaged in powerful conversations and workshops that addressed the urgent challenges facing Nigeria’s education system, from outdated curricula to the digital divide.

With over 60% of teachers in rural areas lacking access to continuous professional development, Education Without Borders 2025 offered a rare and essential platform to equip them with 21st-century teaching strategies.
