GOODWILL MESSAGE ON THE COMMENCEMENT OF RAMADAN AND LENT
By the Awori Youth Association (AYA)
Today marks a significant and deeply spiritual moment as our Muslim and Christian faithful commence their respective fasting seasons, for our Muslim brothers and sisters, the holy month of Ramadan, and for our Christian brethren, the sacred season of Lent. That both seasons begin on the same day is a powerful reminder that, though our paths of worship may differ, our shared values of faith, sacrifice, love, discipline, and devotion unite us as one people.
On behalf of the leadership and all members of the *Awori Youth Association (AYA),* We extend warm greetings and heartfelt wishes to all our Muslim and Christian members at home and in the diaspora as you embark on this sacred journey of fasting and prayer.
Ramadan and Lent are seasons of deep reflection, spiritual renewal, self-denial, charity, forgiveness, and total submission to the will of Almighty God.
The call to purify our hearts, strengthen our faith, uplift the needy, reconcile with one another, and recommit ourselves to righteousness and service to humanity. These values resonate strongly with the core principles of Awori heritage, unity, communal love, respect for elders, integrity, and collective progress.
The coincidence of these two holy observances, which begin on the same day, carries profound significance for us as Awori youths. It symbolises harmony in diversity and reinforces the truth that our strength lies not in uniformity of religion, but in unity of purpose. It reminds us that whether Muslim or Christian, we kneel before the same Almighty Creator, seek the same peace, and desire the same prosperity for our land and our people.
As we fast and pray, may this sacred period renew our commitment to peaceful coexistence in Aworiland. May it strengthen the bond of brotherhood and sisterhood among our youths. May it deepen mutual understanding and tolerance, and silence every voice of division.
We particularly pray that:
Almighty God grants all our Muslim members the strength, good health, and spiritual fulfilment to complete the Ramadan fast successfully, and accept their prayers, supplications, and acts of charity.
Almighty God grants our Christian members divine grace, endurance, and spiritual upliftment throughout the Lenten season, and crowns their sacrifices with abundant blessings.
May this dual season of devotion usher in:
Greater unity and progress for the Awori Youth Association (AYA).
Sustainable development, peace, and prosperity in Aworiland.
Continued growth and harmony in Lagos and Ogun States.
Lasting peace, economic stability, and national rebirth for Nigeria.
As we deny ourselves physically, may we be filled spiritually. As we sacrifice, may our land experience divine restoration.
As we pray individually, may our collective prayers rise for the transformation of our communities and our nation.
Let us use this sacred season to recommit ourselves to purposeful leadership, youth empowerment, community development, and the preservation of Awori values and identity.
May the Almighty accept our fasting, hear our prayers, forgive our shortcomings, and bless Aworiland abundantly.
Ramadan Kareem.
Happy Lenten Season.
Signed,
The Leadership of Awori Youth Association (AYA)
